I've always wondered about this. Why do you think it's so hard for them and so easy for their opponents?
opposition usually have heavy forcheck; leafs don't. its as simple as that IMO. Opposition clog neutral zone or stand up at the blue line leading to -1) forced dump-ins where leafs hardly recover the puck or 2) leafs try to gain entry with possession turnover the puck and opposition attacks with odd man rush.
its a combination of coaching and players' willingness to engage in physicality IMO.
