Honest to goodness, just rotate Gio out. They seem to be giving him the lifetime achievement treatment a la Joe Thornton even though he's really only been in Toronto for a year and is on a league minimum deal. Why not sit him out for a D man who would have led the Leafs in regular season scoring?
Why did he play 78 games this year? Keefe just seems over his head, and being unable to sit veteran players out for the good of the team is just another example

As much as I hate Holl's play, Gio has easily been the worst D and it's not close. Brodie has been average at best but he at least can make plays under forechecks and move the puck out and besides a hiccup or two here or there, Lilly is the only other D who moves the puck comparable to Rielly. I would genuinely see about testing Gus and Lilly on the bottom pairing for some kind of speed in moving the puck. If the Leafs aren't going to commit to a heavy forecheck for an entire game, might as well burn them with mobility.

The problem with this whole Bennet situation is that we all know the Leafs will not retaliate and will just try to win. There's a history of them not getting riled up about these things.

But, the league is now thinking the Leafs will retaliate and any hit against him, even if just a regular play with be overly scrutinized by the refs. All this plays in complete favour of the Panthers. To make things worse, they put in McCauley who will be looking to call penalties on them for every little things he sees.

The Leafs need to just ignore everything and dominate with skill and crash the net. If they don't have traffic in front, they will lose this game..

Gio hasn't been good but you're forgetting how absolutely shit Holl was

I don't believe this core group has ever faced the adversity of being down 2 games in a series where the next loss would be almost too big a hole to recover from.
2018 vs Boston

won the 0-2 game 3 and the 1-3 Game 5 (and 6)

We all know about the Game 7 though

Holl is catastrophic bad that results in goals against. Gio is shift to shift bad, routine play bad.

Bennett can throw hands good I wouldn’t mind at all to see a great tilt between him and Schenn to get the boys going early
He doesn’t throw hands he throws sticks to the face and throws heads into boards. Would love the rat to actually take his gloves off and fight Schenn. But he’s too much of a puss## to do that

The other issue is the Leafs can’t get caught up in a pissing match when they need to win tonight. If you lose focus on the game and try to go after Bennett you’re just doing the Panthers a favor

Just win and that’s all they need to do, then all these noises will be shut down. Just look at McD and Drai, they just go out and take care of business and all the noises go away.

Put the puck on net and cause traffic and get some greasy goals against Bob, limit the mistakes and hopefully one of the big boys can take over the game.

I don't think you know the type of player Bennet is very well. He's a very good fighter and certainly isn't afraid to drop the gloves. Maybe you were thinking of Tkachuk...
