I actually worry about the rivalry factor with San Jose more than previous years, this Kings team seems to let people get under their skin a little more that when they used to do that to the opposite but then refused to retaliate back against teams. The game vs Dallas was a good example, it started getting chippy and Kings took themselves out of position to hit opposing players, very un King like. So I lean toward Nashville.

Would be cool to see the Ducks and Sharks beating the crap out of each other in round 1.

This x1000. Sharks-Ducks will be a 7 game bloodbath. They hate each other more than either hates us. It also means one of the 2 (hopefully the Ducks) will be gone after round 1.

The Kings will seriously underestimate the Preds and fall into a 0-3 hole, assuming the Preds are no big deal. Then they absolutely WILL NOT be able to win 4 games in a row. Over. The End......

Thank you Mr. Sunshine

Are you sure Gaborik will be back round 1?

San Jose did a lot of good things last offseason and it has paid off all year. Couture is looking like he finally is back to form...They scare the **** out of me...Than again so does Nashville's D and the fact they have a guy who should be a top 7 goalie in the league

San Jose scares me to as this is a different team then the past few years. As far as Nash goes that goalie is not near top 7 this season he has been so up and down, and when he has been down he has played so bad it's near impossible for that team to win if he is going to have a down stretch. I'm hoping for the division and Nashville round one. All that said every team in the west playoffs will be damn tough.

I dunno, probably Nashville. The Sharks will be absolutely aching to avenge the reverse sweep. Both teams would be a tough series.

Sharks scare me because of wanting revenge for 14
And they have Jones, while I know Quick is better, goalies always perform well against their previous team

Ducks/Sharks in the first round is what all Kings fans should be hoping for. I'd prefer not to have two 7 game wars in the first two rounds. Assuming they beat Nashville in the first round even in 7 games I doubt it would be as physical and intense as a series against the Sharks. Plus Nashville and Rinne don't have much history of success in the playoffs either.

You forgot 7 games of getting boarded/kneed by James Kneeal and diving/slashing by Ribiero.

Guaran-****ing-tee you Neal hurts someone in the first round, particularly if they're losing big.

This will sound arrogant but the Kings don't care who they face in the West. If the team is good, we'll have to face them anyway if we make it to the Final. And I think we demonstrated in both of our Cup runs that we can play all of the best teams and still dominate the East team in the Final.

This year the West teams are not as strong and the top East team looks like the strongest in years since the Bruins 2011. So really it's more about what East team we play.

And maybe the west is actually stronger with more good teams to beat up on each other over the season.

Maybe the top east teams are getting more of a cake walk to the POs.

As far as the 48-yr old Kings over the last 2 games: need division title #2

yeah, not especially sure why people think Nashville will be a tame series in comparison

they're big, physical, and are definitely not above getting down and dirty

has all the ****ing signs of 2013 all over again, STL and LA beating the ever-living **** out of each other for 6+ games. Sharks aren't really a great consolation prize though either. Rough matchup either way.

Nashville.

I want LA going into the playoffs playing some good hockey, and if we are playing SJ that likely means something went wrong in Games 81 & 82.

I also want home ice in Rd 2 if its vs. ANA.

Yeah, we make a big deal about CF%, and Nashville is up near the top of the league too. They've been one of the better teams in regulation in the 2nd half of the year. There's no rather playing them. Most likely a 6 or 7 game series either way between them and SJ.

We always have home ice vs. Anaheim ;) :sarcasm:

No guarantees we make rd. 2 anyway with the murderer's row the West is right now. I think either Nashville OR SJ stands a very, very good chance of taking us out. I want to survive long enough to get Gaborik back because that changes everything imo.

Both teams have been nuts since New Years, yeah.

SJ for the sake of travel, but as others have said, would like to have home ice in a potential series with ANA, that said, Dewey will play 35 minutes anyway, so last change matters less.

Nashville, as I don't think they have the scoring depth the Sharks do, and even their top forwards don't scare me all that much. A lot of their key players are getting up there in years too. Didn't realize Ribeiro is 36 and Rinne is 33.

Also the potential shenanigans quotient in a Sharks-Ducks best of seven is off the charts. Perry-Couture jousting after every whistle. Kesler and Thornton trading flops. Bieksa and Hertl telling each other horror stories about the bogeyman Dustin Brown. Potential for a Jesus-Jones goalie fight?

I think Pekker is still one the better goalies in the game and fully think he will prove he still has it in the playoffs.

Personally, as much as I want to win the division, it mean road apples in the long run. We match up better with the Sharks I believe, this despite the 2-3 record vs the Sharks this year. The Ducks were 3-1 against SJ, and 1-2 vs Nashville. I like our chances to make a deeper run better with the Kings and Sharks in the first round. Whoever comes out of the West, will have to earn it. It's going to be brutal, and virtually any team, maybe outside on Minnesota, has a legit shot.
