Draft Round 1 #23: New York Rangers Select RW Gabriel Perreault (Boston College, NCAA)

1 goal is a little concerning to me. Is his shot any good or he got the Rangers issues and tend to overpass when in a shooting position?

Encapsulates everything I like about Perreault and Leonard.

Leonard is going to be a very good pro. Sucks that he is a Cap.

There’s always one guy lol.

He has like 900 assists. Who cares about the goal total?

And no his shot is good. The goals will be there eventually

And I think most of his assists are primary right?

I think he’s for a bit unlucky with the goal scoring. His shot seems good it just hasn’t gone in for him. Though who knows. A shot might look good but if you can’t score a lot then it’s lacking somethjng
But it’s still early in his career and he has scored in the past.

No I am. I think hes been the worst of the 3 so far despite the point totals but I still like him very much. Theres a lot of good things to work with but he needs refinement.

I was talking about this play in particular where Smith didn't really do anything. Honestly Leonard, reallly made the goal happen here.

- Delayed his net drive essentially creating a temporary "pick" which opened up extra space for Perreault,
- Darts to the goal once the space has been created.
-Changes his route to get inside position on the defender
- Finish.

Nice dish by Perreault but this was A+ stuff from Leonard. This is the kind of stuff that is going to serve him very well in the pros provided that he plays with someone who can get the puck to those areas.

How likely is he to have a prominent role in the WJC?

If you ask the main prospect board, not very good.

I don’t see how he gets left off though. His entire line should go. The familiarity is a built in advantage and I’d expect that they’d rip it up there too.

The one criticism of his game that I’ve never understood was “pace problems.”

He game goes at his pace when he’s out there- that’s not a problem, it’s a strength. It’s Fox esque.

Kravtsov had pace problems. He does not.

The main prospect board seems to not like him for some reason. It's almost as if they have to justify the drop.
