Yeah, I don't know what the hair up his ass is with Lundqvist. The Garden was known to fluff shot quality a little bit, sure, but we have arena-adjusted analytics. They don't affect his overall numbers that much.
It's weird. I've seen Bacon and JFresh, two of the most prominent analytics guys on twitter, both post things along the lines of the home rink bias completely nullifying Lundqvist's career, despite the fact that other analytics have done venue adjusted numbers to account for the perceived bias in MSG's recordings and it certainly does not drop Lundqvist down to an average goalie - it just takes him from being 10 steps above everyone else to being maybe 3 or 4. Not to mention all the other factors like the teams he played on and their lack of talent and goal support, his unheard of consistency, the Vezina nominations, the Vezina win, the gold medal, the amount of wins, his playoff records. Telling me that MSG may have inflated his GSAX a bit invalidates all of that is just asinine.

Also no mention of the two (Vezina nominated) seasons of Lundqvist's career that aren't ever factored into those stats because they all start in 2007.

He got a lot of praise in that thread as this dominant season unfolded. I don’t see many people low on him at all.

Maybe I didn't read far back enough. I think sometimes prospects get nitpicked a lot especially high profile ones. Add to the fact that he's not the perfect prospect and that's what you get.

I watch this kids highlight package and I simply can’t remember the last time I saw so many great passes from a Rangers forward prospect. He has fantastic anticipation. Kids a true playmaker. The kind we usually end up trading for but rarely draft. He’s possibly already i that top tier with Fox and Panarin. Step was a decent passer. Zucc was special too. But other than that the best NYR homegrown playmakers are D (Zubov and Leetch).

It's as simple as the the analytics community likes to downplay the impact of goaltending and how it effects the game, imo. The Rangers were always a good team with Hank despite having pretty terrible underlying numbers basically his whole career. Pretty sure JFresh is a Penguins fan too, it's not like he wouldnt have a bias against a division rival.

Zuccarello I suppose but he was a lot older while still being considered a prospect

Didn't realize he's Yanic's son. Gabe has the advantage of being close with someone who knows what it takes to be an NHL player. Yanic was a faceoff mastermind, too bad Gabe isnt a center.

I knew JFresh too.

Both guys were trying to break into the scene for awhile, and quite frankly, I think pissing off Rangers fans just generates attention.

Niklas Andersson- 165 gp for some of the worst teams in the 90s (isles, sharks, flames)
Yanic Perreault- 859 gp over 18 seasons for LA Toronto Montreal

Still an NHL player. Look, being the son of a good NHLer is nice, but hardly a guarantee for success. Perreault is the first exciting late 1st round pick by this team since probably Chris Kreider. Let's hope he hits his ceiling.

Barely. I think there is a real difference between a guy who play for the shit show islanders (John Spano)/expansion sharks, and a guy who played in LA with Gretzky, and for two original six franchises.

We already see Lias did not get the best advice or guidance from Niklas.

There is no need to bring up Lias Anderson. He will always be known for tossing a medal in the crowd. Gilbert Perreault will be known for breaking the USNTP single season scoring record.

I don't disagree about the excitement level of Perreault and Kreider.

Good lord, he is not slow. This is ridiculous. He moves pretty well from what I have seen. He doesn't have to be a speed skater. He has also improved a good deal from just last year. The guy was an A+ pick at 23. He is also 5"11 170lbs and will fill out the next 2-3 years. Most draft guys had him going between 10 and 15 for a reason. Elite hockey IQ and skill. Something tells me you are going to be eating major crow in a few years.
Eating crow? I never said this guy won’t make it or be good. I was pointing out the combination of slow and small is not great and someone with questionable skating is not ideal.
