real good offense and bad defense?

e: B. Tkachuk that is

iirc isn't Bacon's model for prospects basically entirely predicated on how many points a player scores at a certain age and not particularly adjusted for other things
Points are usually highly predictive for young players, tbf.

People were right to ask "but where are the points?" on Hajek, Andersson, and Kravtsov.

If you have NHL talent, you usually score a lot at levels below the NHL.

Brady Tkachuk is a nice little player and he would be regarded as a nice little player if his last name was Smith.

Also Pronman's clown ass had Perreault mocked at 9.

He falls to 23 and he's like "Oh this is unsurprising!"

f*** that guy.
He's a hack. Hates the Rangers too.

He would've been smug as all hell if Guerin didn't save Drury from taking Stramel.

Notice Perreault got a blank jersey last night. Either Drury was taking someone else or they did not think Perreault would fall that far.

Another thing to consider about Gabe Perrault, USNTDP plays a handful of games against NCAA teams. Anyone have the numbers against NCAA teams from this season, if I recall correctly he scored 20+ points in those games. Does anyone have those numbers?

Thinking it’s the later as opposed to the former

most rankings had him somewhere in the high teens, being there at 23 was probably a surprise

Probably the latter.

I think Stramel was defiantly on their radar, but Lily was pretty adamant afterwards that Perrault was very high on their board (I believe him) and that his staff's philosophy is BPA regardless of where you are in the draft.

Nice change from the Bobrovian era.

I didn't watch after the Rangers pick, but did any of the other teams after present jerseys with the player's name on it? It's probably because after the top 10-15 there is so much uncertainty that they would need 10 jerseys made up with different names of who they thought they could pick.

Some of the jerseys last night with names, the name plates were coming off a little bit so I think they’re velcro’ed on anyways or something. Outside of someone like a Bedard who Chicago knows will be there

You'd probably have to look at tape from last season. First impressions hold a lot of weight. If you saw him last year and he looked small/weak/slow, that evaluation sticks with you.

He is not the same player as last season. He is obviously not anywhere close to being physically matured either. That is evident. He looks 15-16
Something I noticed in his stats is he made a huge jump from year 1 to year 2. Obviously the draft can be a crap shoot but I'm much more optimistic about this guy at #23 than I was with Lias Anderson at #7.

Rubs me the wrong way because of when he quote tweeted Lundqvist's retirement post and said he was overrated and just an above average goalie. You're entitled to your (wrong) opinion but literally quote tweeting the retirement post 5 minutes after the guy announces his retirement?

Also Othmann having a 2% chance of becoming an NHLer per his model because of Othmann's weak stats in the Swiss league during Covid and continuing to double down on it over the past couple years is weird. Is it that hard to admit that maybe it was a blind spot in his model? Seems like too many analytics guys online are like that.
If he said those things he needs to rethink a lot of things. I was not as big a Lundy fan as some but he was a first ballot guy for a reason. I would be surprised if he could find 5 NHL players to ever agree with that. Probably not even 1.

It’s not a crucify. It’s a simple observation based on tangible information. The guy is already known for being very small and, he can’t skate. Even in his “highlight package” during the draft he toe picked crossing the blue line and managed to get up quick enough to get a shot off. Let’s be real, that’s not really a “highlight real” goal. The pick looks awful on paper and will likely look worse in reality. You can go find every advanced stat out there but how many 5 foot 7, 160 pounders are currently in the NHL???
Gabriel is now 5 foot 7?

I already said when I posted that I had bad information. I’ve admitted my mistake already- he’s not as small as I was suggesting but still small.

Without knowing anything about this guy, all indications make it seem like a good value pick, and that’s all you can realistically ask for.

The rest we will have to wait and see.

Stop getting so worked up about it.

There are so many posts. I did not see your correction. He is 18-19 years old. He will likely add some weight as his body matures. 5-11 is not small in height. Give the kid a chance. I'm hopeful.
