Kesselring is interesting because he is 1 year from UFA and is a RFA right now who needs a contract. Thats risky for the acquiring team. Go 1 year prove it and he could walk. Go long term and last years struggles are real and it’s a horrendous deal.

Discount price for Kesserling. A little surprising.

Doesn’t help the Rangers at all on both fronts.

I like Kesselring but he wasn’t even playing for Buffalo down the stretch, can’t imagine his value was very high to begin with

On the other hand, the Hurricanes are notorious and unique in their system deployment, which is a force multiplier for them against most teams (though we always seemed to handle it well). They are an odd case.
most teams struggle against the Canes' pressure because they're not used to it.

the Rangers, even the ECF teams, made an absolute living winning games when they were completely dominated in shot quantity and quality. to them, getting pwned for periods at a time by Carolina was business as usual.

I would expect Darnell Nurse to be a Ranger and Darren Raddysh to also be a Ranger.

@ God @ Moses @ Mohammed @ Buddha @Joesph Smith @ The Crazy Guy prophesying outside my local post office:

You better not let Darnell Nurse become a Ranger. I will become a vector of nightmares for both this board and any unfortunate soul who happens to be wearing Rangers gear within a several mile radius of my person.

Everyone says Trocheck is too old to give up a "haul" for? Teams need centers. When it comes to Trocheck, he is too old and the Rangers want too much for him. It's annoying. A first round pick. A good young player/good prospect.

Frank Seravalli said Yzerman isn't rushing into any Larkin trade. I read the Wings would look to find a third team to acquire a more now center if the Larkin return was based on futures. How long can the Rangers wait for a Larkin trade to materialize and then trade Trocheck to the Wings?

Think of it this way, if all the centers played center on this team he'd be the 3rd line center, on a bottom team. He's good at faceoffs, skates well, pks , and would be on most teams 2nd pp unit. He's a good player, kinda like Zuc was a good player, and while he was on an expiring contract, we never really got a haul for him either, and he's a bonafide 1st pp guy. I think the value is somewhere between what everyone is expecting here and the the silliness other teams fans think they can get him for.

All of you tying yourselves in knots trying to rationalize your worldview like the obvious answer isnt "You need a team full of good players". The Rangers havent had a good player at every spot in the lineup since 2014. That about sums it up.
funny reading you say this while tying yourself in a knot insisting K'Andre Miller is anything but a "good player" at an important position.

If you're into numbering, Miller was the 3rd center as recently as this past year in that setup.

I’ve got the think that the non glamorous Canadian teams that are on every no trade list will have great interest in Schneider. Still plenty of opportunities although I did think San Jose was the best match.

Also leads me to believe San Jose is going defense with their pick. Kesserling becomes more of a placeholder in that scenario.
