Given the current situation if it has to happen it certainly won't be the end of the world but I think Gavrikov stews on things here in NY for at least another year before deciding to jump ship. Rolling out a D core without Gavrikov & Schneider with no real replacements for the entirety of next season is just more nightmare fuel. Unless he thinks LA might go on a cup run next season and wants out as soon as possible you typically don't see big UFA signings get traded 1 year into their contract, at least none that I can remember recently.
sounds like a great way to have an 25% chance at landon dupont to me

Who’s gonna play LD for us if we trade Gavrikov? Robertson/Fortescue/Vaak? Holy shit, we’d probably sign Ferraro for big money and he isn’t good.

Might as well as trade Igor, Borgen, and anyone over 27 without a clause. Not a horrible idea just rip the band aid off.
Dumoloin comes back for Gav and we sign Logan Stanley 4 years/4 million

Dumoloin-Fox
Stanley-Borgen
Fortescue-Morrow

It very well could be that his family wants to return

I would expect Darnell Nurse to be a Ranger and Darren Raddysh to also be a Ranger.

Don't think McTavish will ever have a Zibanejad-esque breakout, but a 23 year old 2C is the right idea for a team trying to get younger.

If you can make Schneider the key return, great, but IDK if that would be something Anaheim valued that much. They have options at RD if they want them.
From what I have read, he isn’t really a Center, more of a winger

In my opinion If there is one player on Kings NY will not be able to get from LA it is Clarke.

I think LA will trade Byfield before him, but trading Byfield for Trocheck does not make sense either for them.
trocheck for byfield makes plenty of sense for NYR, and might for LA if Holland cares more about trocheck being the better player the next two years as opposed to down the line. seems like LA is gearing up to go all in, despite the fans wanting otherwise.

Trocheck for Byfield makes no sense for LA, because Kings still will need another center and already used their assets. Also, it is debatable if Trocheck currently better player than Byfield...

bold 1: irrelevant b'c it supports win now and we have to go a few steps back to gain way ahead later

bold 2: yes

Ks seem to have been lukewarm about Clarke.
Overall production/upside is close.
Gav = better long term cap hit locked in
Clarke = younger

There were reasonable bases to think by could be had, but not atm esp since Kopi retired.
Ks would need to get high pivots from somewhere first before entertaining b'c pivot depth = dearth

Apparently, Gavrikov never wanted to leave Los Angeles. He wanted seven years and LA said no. Now there's mutual interest from Gavrikov and the Kings for him to return to LA. There were discussions regarding expanding the Panarin deal to include Trocheck or Gavrikov but Drury wanted to move Panarin and they would circle back to the other two players later. They are claiming Trocheck didn't want to move his family to LA during the season. He would be more open to the move in the summer. The Kings would like to acquire Trocheck and Gavrikov. They pointed Trocheck had his best offensive season during Laviolette.

What is LA giving up for both players? LA has the 17th pick in the draft. The Rangers could select Alexander Command. He should go in that range. 2027 first round pick would need to be included. The Kings don't have many assets. LA is looking to move Dumoulin or Edmundson. Their contracts stink. They are not trading Laferriere. Clarke? The Rangers need to get something out of this trade for both players.

So move Trocheck and his $5+m, move Gavrikov's $7m, move Schneider's $4+m, and don't sign Tuch or other lesser UFAs. Are the Rangers even going to make the cap floor?
