Malenstyn would be a good pickup for depth. I think he's is a good enough skater that he'd improve the team speed and forechecking ability. Malenstyn should repalce Edstrom and Rempe as a depth 4th line PK piece and not take a spot from Sykora, Chmelar etc .
There are eight guaranteed spots: Mika, Gabe, Laf, Miller, Cullye, Karthye, Laba, Chmelar.

I'd put a piece coming back from Trocheck or Schneider as the ninth. So the 10th will be a UFA fourth line veteran center, and 11th will be a middle six winger who can score, and then there's Rempe who will be around.

So there's a small chance there's a third UFA forward added, and also Greentree and Aspinall will be in the mix.

Can the coaching staff resist playing Rempe too much especially if his thumb isn't 100%, and will Sullivan trust Sykora or do they view his callup as a fluke/more situational?

Rinse and repeat doesnt help. I think they're still looking for Buchnevich's replacement

Both will happen. They're adding at least two UFAs. A fourth line center like a Stenlund, and a middle six winger whether Zucc, McMann, Tuch.
Id love Zucc back.

Lafy Mika Perreault

Cuylle Miller Zuccarello

Kartye Laba McMann

I dont want Tuch. He'd be Rick Nash and Artemi Panarin. Regular season player that doesnt dominate in the playoffs like his skillset should allow him to do so. I rather overpay for proven playoff players that wouldn't be too pricey

Arvidsson short term
Blueger or Acciari short term
Seriously inquire about Dougie Hamilton. If he costs nothing, make the move.

Why is Arvidsson signing short term, coming off a very good year, in a terrible free agent class, when it’s his last chance to get a longer term deal? Someone will probably give him 5 years.

Someone (Friedman?) just said the other day that it seems like Jersey will keep him now. Makes sense with Mehta as GM and Hamilton being a strong playdriver
That's excellent news. They're running it back with 6D who all make $3.4M+ who led them to non-playoff finish and a 7th who wants $9M and doesn't seem to be real happy there.

He has had 1 good season in his last 3. He's 33 years old and even in his 'good year' which was last year, he played 69 games. AFP has him projected to get 2 years @ $4.92m. MAYBE that pushes to 3 years but he's not getting 6-7

He has one bad season the last 5 years. Some of which he was hurt (which is always an issue with him) but still good when he played. Hes one of the top FA in a terrible class. He’s getting way more than 2 for 10.

These are his stat lines the last 3 years.

18 games played in 23-24
67 games played in 24-25 with 25 points
Then his re-breakout after a cap dump trade where he had 54 points in 69 games

I'd say that's 1 good year in his last 3 and 3 good years in his last 5.

This is all semantics, Arvidsson, with his age and numbers, is highly unlikely to get 5-7 years. Someone is going to target him and hope he stays healthy but I doubt they go 4 years for him at 33 years old

I wouldn’t call 15 points in 18 games a bad year. He was highly effective when on the ice. Actually being on the ice is always an issue for him though.

I think there’s a pretty good chance he gets 4-5 years.

Another guy who would pique my interest, again because I think he gets a short term deal, is Bjorkstrand. He's also a shooter which the team could use...

AFP has him projected at 2 years and $2.85m per season.

Go get both guys. Short term commitments. See if they can supplement the team with secondary scoring and improve the depth.
It's not a bad move, but you're looking at a 35pt forward if he is getting the same ice time and role. Tampa had injuries this season and his time on ice went down for his career.

I've always been a fan of his game. My thing would be, what are we signing him to do. If he is being signed to play with Miller in a top 6 role, it's a great signing. He can fill a void without a lot of cap space, reclaim his value, and be good for the team and as a potential trade asset.

If he is signing to be a 3rd liner, I'd rather stay away and leave room for the wingers in the organization already. A top 6 wing is where the need for this team is.

All they need is a top 6 RW and 4th C who PKs. There's going to be quality guys waived this year. I'd do ~little in FA, maybe a couple HFD callup/garbo D.
