wait....are you saying you want Drury gone?

I went to the Knicks parade last week. I saw lots of notables because I got a great view, but that's another story. Long story short, Dolan's float passed and I kept yelling to him and his son, "FIRE CHRIS DRURY. PLEASE! FIRE CHRIS DRURY" - I don't have the strongest and loudest voice, but I'm sure he heard me.

Who do ya'll think we're gonna target in FA?

I'm expecting us to be competitive for Marchment and Shea. Maybe we poke around on some guys like Bjorkstrand or Kuzmenko we could sign for 1 year and flip at the DL if they have nice years.

Blueger, Greer, Malenstyn

They said they needed bottom 6 help and puck moving defensemen. They are so flush with young wings I wouldn’t want to sign anyone at wing with more than a 2-3 year contract

We need a big mean dman, I could see us signing that big guy from the West? Think his name is Tuba.

I thought that Drury offered him a 2 year extension at the 11mil level, before the season, and when Pan turned hs nose up at it there were no further negotiations. Seems Drury and Artemi had decided at that point that Pan wasn’t coming back.
The fact of the matter is that the NMC to the end that Gorton gave Pan was the club Panarin was able to swing to get what he wanted with no care as to the effect on NYR. He decided he wanted LAK or FLA and used other teams to try to up the bidding on his salary with no care about the trade negotiations themselves. Which was his right, of course, but he still kind of screwed us. Pan had full control over where and when he would go if he was to be traded at all. That’s the bottom line. Drury could’ve been the best GM of all time and it wouldn’t have mattered. The only other option was losing him for nothing as a UFA.

I think the number was significantly lower than that. Panarin wanted longer term as well.

This is meaningless, right? Just empty, hollow words?

Because in the words of the great Tyler Durden, "how's that workin' out for ya?"

Wonder what Patrik Nemeth and Sammy Blais are up to these days...

Marchment is a near certainty. Shea makes a lot of sense but I'm not sure the Rangers will be in on him.

I'm a fan of signing 1 or 2 more middle 6 wingers onto one year deals and trading them for 2nd and 3rd rounders at the deadline. I'd do this to keep Greentree in Hartford until he forces the issue and to recoup Raddysh whom will almost certainly be dealt to Toronto for a late Day 2 pick and Sheary who hopefully walks.

Kypreos hasn’t broken a rangers trade since he said Girardi was going to phoenix for Yandle. That was a fun 5 minutes

So players are gonna force themselves to just 1 team now. NHLPA needs to have it where it must be multiple teams to have the privilege of an NTC
Something needs to be done.

Capping the number of NMC/NTC's each team can give out should be done. Make it a points system. Each team gets 10 points and rosters must be compliant by opening night. 3 points for a full NMC. 2 points for a NTC including 22 or more teams. 1 point for a NTC including between 10 and 20 teams. 0.5 points for a NTC including 8 or less teams, et al, you get the idea.

Teams in states with income tax should also get an optional salary cap cushion percentage relative to the percentage players are taxed, but I don't think this board is ready for civil discourse about that yet.

Dreger reported Buffalo and Tuch have reengaged in contract talks.

Ray does not think Tuch is worth $10M AAV?

Frank believes Seattle would move #7 for a difference maker. He mentions Tuch's wife being from Vancouver and they would be interested in him.

Nichushkin could be available according to Friedman.

The cost might be relatively low considering that Colorado needs cap space, as well as Nichushkin's off ice issues in recent years. He just turned 31 in March, and he has 4 years left on his contract at 6.125 mil.

Good size, productive when on his game, and he can play either wing. He has a 12-team NTC for the remainder of his contract.

There's a thread on the trade board about him, and one poster claiming he has knowledge of the interested teams, and he didn't list the Rangers, but I would be asking if I was Drury. 4 years aligns with the contracts of Mika and Miller. He can help us compete while we build the next core through the draft.

At #7 we’re getting closer to the range id be ok moving Laf. Does Seattle consider concern him a difference maker? He played with Wright in the past no?

I’m not high on bringing a guy like that into a room that’s getting younger and more impressionable

Tell that to every writer who starts or finishes every article with “when does the retool become a rebuild?” or some idiotic variation of that. It doesn’t matter what it’s called. It’s the Lazarus’ & Ryan Meads of the world who think the team owes them a handwritten explanation of every transaction. Newsflash guys, this team is ass and the players you idolize aren’t exactly coveted by the rest of the league.
It’s going to be a long 2 months with a lot of kvetching about moves not moving the needle immediately and capitalizing on certain windows.

I really don’t get what those folks want. They all think Drury is doing an awful job, which is fair, but they also want him making aggressive moves to win now with what’s left of this core. Why? It’s no wonder the team has historically done what it’s done when the fan pressure is begging for it.

Apparently, Seattle did talk to the Rangers about Lafreniere. They offered Wright. The Rangers weren't interested. Last winter. Elliotte Friedman mentioned this scenario a few times a few months ago.

I didn't take a poll, but I think many Rangers fans are okay with a rebuild, even if it is half-ass or a "retool". What they're not okay with is Drury leading it when he's put us in this situation to begin with. Cleaning up your messes is for kids, not general managers. Once you make a mess, you're punished by losing your job.

Seattle wants anyone they can get their hands on who can’t say no to them.

I understand the concern, but there are no perfect options out there. I'd much rather gamble on Nichushkin than give Tuch a long-term deal.
