Even if they got Larkin for Troch + Morrow or a pick, and signed someone like Tuch; that's approximately the same as Panarin and Trochek in terms of output. Maybe slightly better given age considerations and potential drop off in production for the latter. That's also assuming Larkin and Tuch actually play well in NY which I would not be convinced of at all. Either way I don't think it makes this team better, just different, and then also delays the inevitable... again.I tend to agree. I don’t think Larkin being 32 is a problem at all, but we will already have Fox, Zib, Gavrikov and maybe Miller as the senior members, so if we are dealing vets I’d just as soon target guys who are 18-25 right now.
Still, if we got Larkin for Trocheck plus like… Morrow, you wouldn’t see me complaining.
By proxy of becoming the best C available yes, but I don't think they would have the exact same market. It lessens the possibility someone desperate for a top-6 C overpays because there is no better option.Idiot Larkin requesting a trade defintly lowers Trochecks value
I'm intrigued about the price on Larkin. 3 years younger than Tro, but $3.1m per season more expensive, plus an extra 2 years on the contract.
He's a 'bigger name' than Trocheck, but has only outscored Tro by 50 pts total in the past 5 seasons, and Tro actually has more 5v5 points (172 v 168). That 5v5 scoring gap is wider in the past 3 seasons (101 v 89).
Different usage, different linemates etc etc, but if I'm a GM i'm not sure i'm paying a premium for Larkin
A superstar doesn't need a supporting cast to get his team into the playoffs.
Larkin would be such a dumb add.
I don't think we're really in on him tbh.
Lafreniere is a far superior 5v5 scorer in case anyone wants a reference point. Although Larkin’s speed would definitely help us.Larkin would be such a dumb add.
