I find it interesting that Robertson wants the moon from Dallas but also refuses a ludicrous contract from Seattle. Time to make a decision imo

With the amount of behind the scenes tampering type activities that go on these days(his agent is Brisson), he probably has a very specific destination in mind. Trying to strong arm his way to where he wants to go.

He's a 26 year old 45 goal / 100 pt player. Stepan went for a 7th OA.(not saying I'd do it for the current rangers team, but hes got plenty of hockey left in him)

He's 27 in a month's time. That's not old, and he'd be a great player to add if you were a team strong down the middle and at the beginning of a contention window. The Rangers are neither. Trading for him and then signing him to the contract he wants will both prevent the Rangers from re-stocking a pretty barren cupboard (as what resources we do have would likely go towards acquiring JR) AND do nothing in terms of changing the fortunes of this team (no young centers, HUGE holes in the D).

Making that move would stick the Rangers exactly where they DON'T want to be:

-Mired in the mediocrity zone (just making/just missing the playoffs).
-Anchored to a highly productive winger with flaws (rather than building around center depth).
-In a position where (you KNOW) Drury will start buying rentals again to try and sneak into the last playoff spot.

Robertson is a very good player for a team that is in a very different spot than the NY Rangers.

This. Robertson would be repeating the exact same mistake we made in signing Panarin, but Bread was better than JRob, cheaper than JRob, we didn't have to trade a haul to get Bread, and we had more young pieces in place when we signed Bread. It's a bad move from every possible angle.

I think his point is that it could be offered - perhaps PV is holding out hope it will be offered at some point. I hope not. I have zero faith in Drury and that is a stretch even for me to believe.

Agree largely except Robertson at $14M AAV is actually cheaper than when panarin signed. Panarin at 11.6M was 14.3% of NYR cap hit. $14M on $104M total cap is ~13%.
