Yeah, I'm up there frequently. You just don't drink liquor when you're out.
I prefer liquor when Im out so I dont fill up on beer, but it was sad the last time I was there at a concert and ordered some High West with like two cubes and it was depressing looking at the cup.

Conceptually, sure I'd take any of these guys except Monahan (sorry, I can't stand dudes that lift their visors, it's a pet peeve of mine). But these are all guys that play over 18 minutes a night, realistically I don't see any of them coming here because:
  1. None of these guys will be happy with a 3rd line/bottom 6 role, they'll be looking for top 6 opportunities.
  2. KA will not want to bring someone in to slot above Tage or Cozens.

Why wouldn’t he bring in someone to slot above Tage/Cozens, especially when he did exact that all season long with Mitts?

People need to be open to the fact that he said he was looking for a “4C” just to not upset Cozens and Krebs. If he could get someone already on a contract for a lower AAV (eg Cirelli), doesn’t mean he wouldn’t get more minutes that Cozens and Krebs on most nights.

Pretty much said that secondary scoring has been nonexistent since the Mittelstadt-Byram trade. find it interesting that he deleted it..

He liked and then unliked a reply I made on a tweet the other day. I figured he just fat fingered his phone... I've done that here scrolling. "How the hell did I like THAT?":biglaugh:

It’s like playing in Atlanta vs. playing anywhere else in Georgia
Except the hockey team will be playing in the north suburbs iirc

If buffalo is picking top 10 and takes a center. They should not be acquiring a vet with long term. A trade for term of 2 yrs Is more likely.
Not going to give the website the click, but that pesky NMC may have something to do with it.
His agr and money is far bigger. The last 3+ yrs are anchors
The point is that the team is not seriously worse off after the trade. I am not the one posting these narratives to a widespread audience on the internet trying to draw correlations.

I am refuting his inferred point with the reality of the state of the team.

A lot of these guys have been pulling stats from all across the map to lambaste the trade. The trade was not a great fit, but it also wasn't catastrophic either. Mitts has 4 goals and 9 points and is pacing for a 49 point season on the powerhouse avalanche team, and he is a -1 in the +/- category.

I did not like seeing him traded, but let's not pretend that he is an irreplaceable allstar. He's a useful player, but some folks are trying to make the move out to be a much bigger loss than it actually is.
Given buffalos drafting hr is replaceable.

I think this trade was a part one of a trilogy.

Because we are likely going to have a fee young centers coming up in a fee years. Thry dont nerd big term.

Granato deserves his share of criticism but this is just silly. He’s developed many of our top players and helped many take big strides. He’s not some narcissist who made it all about him at the expense of the players. Guys like Tage owe him their current deals.

There’s certainly a lot of nuance that I didn’t dive into.

You can be a pretty good coach and still produce and coach some pretty good athletes that are uncoachable as they progress to the next level.

It generally comes when coaches get tapped out of knowledge, leadership, and X’s and O’s so the entire system becomes sort of a cult of personality where athletes can’t take feedback from any other channels.

There was a reason I said “inadequate coaching” and not “bad coaching”.

CONTRACTS: 42/50
RESERVE LIST: 65/90

They have the ability to sign players to contracts. But, they already have 12 players that will be on their ELC next season and a few guys on their reserve list today that could sign ELCs between now and training camp.

College UDFAs are not hugely important in the grand scheme of things. And given how well stocked the pipeline is, UDFAs might not want to sign here because of all the young guys they have signed and that they have coming.

Never said they were. Just another curious bit of non-spending from Mr. Dig Another Well.

Dont know if this was a mistake by the finnish newspaper but they had a translation of Jokiharju saying something in the locker room after the game that could indicate he is moving along next year.

Well atleast his contract is up.

He's a RFA....He can't go sign with another team....Buffalo owns his rights.

Right, so then its the translation that did the trick on the journalist. Didn't see the referred video anywhere either so I could double check.

It could be just "Keep doing it next year" which could be translated in a way that Jokiharju said "You keep doing it next year" instead of "We keep doing it next year".

It's in the Sabres insta. It's just a cliche everyone has been saying all year when they get the Sabre post game.
"Let's keep it going. "
Jokis quote was.
" let's keep it going next year in this building"
So I'd say it indicates the opposite.

I wouldn't be shocked if guys the Sabres were interested in signed elsewhere because the Sabres prospect pipeline is so stacked.

So, I don't view this as a lack of spending that really means anything.
I do think the lack of UDFA signing is a lack of interest in the Sabres as a franchise as a whole, but I don’t think it would have anything to do with spending.

Assuming they play in the AHL, their salary would be pretty low because it would still be an ELC. If we want to complain about lack of spending, I think there’s an argument to be made that we’ve been benefitting by having so many players on ELCs in Rochester, we’ve been saving money by not having to pay vets more.

With the veteran limits in the AHL, I don't really see the Sabres spending a ton less on vets in Rochester.

Especially this season with Stillman spending the whole season in Rochester on a one-way deal paying him $1.35M and Jost spending 25 games in Rochester on his $2M one-way deal.

You also have Cecconi making $325k, Davies making $425k, Clague making $475k, Murray making $250k with a $300k guarantee, Biro making $300k, and Weissbach making $125k in Rochester. So, they have not just had guys making less than $100k on ELCs in Rochester this season.

Also paying $850k on AHL goaltenders!

(and Bryson spending a month in Rochester)
