There are some juicy potential UFA D-men this summer.
Skjei
Tanev
Pesce
Dillon
Roy
DeMelo

I'm sure Adams will try really hard, but the deal will fall apart at the last moment

I’m literally a prophet

Lebrun implied this was a trade clause issue, not an Adams issue.
I read that part but it doesn't change the fact that Buffalo is interested in other trades over the past two years and wasn't able to do anything because the price is always too high for Kevyn Adams...Just add it to the pile.

Sabres used to use the pegulacopter/jet to change players minds,

These are not mutually exclusive issues.

It doesn't mean they are synonymous either. The implication in the post was that this was because Adams wouldn't meet the price. Indict him for what he hasn't done. Don't need to make up something else to further indict him for something he could not do.

True.

But I was implying that Adams failure as a GM over the last 4 years is at least one of the reasons that players won’t waive to come here.

If Adams had built a winner, people would waive to come here.

Winning would at least remove one stigma to coming to Buffalo.

Re: The Sabres and NTC/NMC

This is a problem of their own making. Putting Eichels career on hold for 6 months and stripping him of his captaincy continues to carry real consequences. It was noted Hanafin didn’t want to come here either. Buffalo is a hard enough sell without a cheap, spiteful front office.

Buffalo was not a destination for 20 years before the Eichel thing. Their rank in least desirable destination in the player polls transcends this management and ownership.

Players are willing to go to Columbus, Pittsburgh, and Detroit. The difference is competent management and good ownership.

How does that change how Regier set deep foundations of this not being a destination or the economic brownout that is the local area? This has been an issue for decades.

It doesn't, but the current ownership, rather than take strides to put that behind them, instead brought it back in full force under the current GM. At least under Murray and Botterill, the Pegulas were willing to spend and they tried to do right by players. Adams was brought in specifically to spend the minimum. And combine that with the petty treatment they gave Eichel on the way out and putting his career on hold for 6 months, it's put us back at the very bottom of destinations.

We are never going to be a tax haven or warm weather city or big city. But we could easily compete with other mid sized, cold weather cities. But, no, even that modest dream of mediocrity recruiting has been dashed by incompetent ownership and management.

Watching the possible Boosh to Toronto thing and wondering if Treliving coming to Buffalo to scout EJ and EJ played so poorly that they went in a different direction once Tanev was off the market?

Boosh with 75% retention means that Toronto is on the hook for 690k in cap hit. Boosh is a barely-playable 3rd pairing tough RHD. That cost Toronto a 3rd and a 6th.

If we retain 50% on EJ, it'll cost a team 1.625M against the cap. I think Boosh has been better than EJ this season......

We ain't gettin shit for EJ.

That's my thought. Nothing for EJ, possibly nothing for Vic. A couple picks in the middle of the draft might be it, if that. *shrug*
