Not all that surprising, if true. If Tanev is interested, he can sign here as a UFA after playing for a true contender.
And if he's not interested, I don't blame him.
Foiled again
There are some juicy potential UFA D-men this summer.
Skjei
Tanev
Pesce
Dillon
Roy
DeMelo
I'm sure Adams will try really hard, but the deal will fall apart at the last moment
This is a headline I have read with every player that has been traded. Adams kicking the tires but too scared to pull the trigger. If true, this gives me at least a tiny semblance of hope that KA is pursuing the right additions.

Well that will continue to be the case if they target guys with trade protection.Eh. This hints at just more press that comes out after they aren't able to get a guy. It's nice to hear they're trying, but again there is no result there.

I read that part but it doesn't change the fact that Buffalo is interested in other trades over the past two years and wasn't able to do anything because the price is always too high for Kevyn Adams...Just add it to the pile.Lebrun implied this was a trade clause issue, not an Adams issue.
These are not mutually exclusive issues.Lebrun implied this was a trade clause issue, not an Adams issue.
Ya, how does it even get to a rumor. You call ask if he will go to Buffalo and if not end of story but that being said players have waived to come to Buffalo. Robyn Regehr comes to mind.Well that will continue to be the case if they target guys with trade protection.
These are not mutually exclusive issues.
True.It doesn't mean they are synonymous either. The implication in the post was that this was because Adams wouldn't meet the price. Indict him for what he hasn't done. Don't need to make up something else to further indict him for something he could not do.
True.
But I was implying that Adams failure as a GM over the last 4 years is at least one of the reasons that players won’t waive to come here.
If Adams had built a winner, people would waive to come here.
Re: The Sabres and NTC/NMC
This is a problem of their own making. Putting Eichels career on hold for 6 months and stripping him of his captaincy continues to carry real consequences. It was noted Hanafin didn’t want to come here either. Buffalo is a hard enough sell without a cheap, spiteful front office.
Buffalo was not a destination for 20 years before the Eichel thing. Their rank in least desirable destination in the player polls transcends this management and ownership.
Players are willing to go to Columbus, Pittsburgh, and Detroit. The difference is competent management and good ownership.
How does that change how Regier set deep foundations of this not being a destination or the economic brownout that is the local area? This has been an issue for decades.
Seems official now. They could probably use another 5/6 dman.Watching the possible Boosh to Toronto thing and wondering if Treliving coming to Buffalo to scout EJ and EJ played so poorly that they went in a different direction once Tanev was off the market?

Boosh with 75% retention means that Toronto is on the hook for 690k in cap hit. Boosh is a barely-playable 3rd pairing tough RHD. That cost Toronto a 3rd and a 6th.
If we retain 50% on EJ, it'll cost a team 1.625M against the cap. I think Boosh has been better than EJ this season......
We ain't gettin shit for EJ.
