I’d intend to extend him unless he wants some absurd amount.
None of those players move the needle for me if I’m trading Mitts. I’m only willing to trade him if we are getting back a top 4 D that isn’t under 23 years old nor over 30.
I think you're deeply, fundamentally misunderstanding the situation. But time will tell I suppose, we can check back in in two years. You're living in a fantasy world where someone would be willing to play for a bottom feeder team his whole career just because he was a childhood fan. It's not how most people's mind works.
Pat Kane won't even play for a shitty loser team for one season, and you think Tuch would willing throw his entire career away? Because he had the jersey as a kid?
His wife's family also comes to play, especially now that he has a kid. I think a lot of people are in for a rude awakening when he won't even accept an over-pay to play in Buffalo.
You have to be Clague right?I'd do
Dahlin Joki (Joki needs upgrading)
Power Clague (if Power is hurt, Clague comes out of course)
R Johnson Clifton
EJ as the 7 where he should be given his age
Agreed. Mitts is the easiest piece to move if we want to affect negative change for the forward group. Unless we're trading him as part of a larger deal for a better center in the same age range then it will be a step back for the organization and not in the one-step-backwards-two-steps-forward kind of way. So no to trading him for a top 4 RD. And no to trading him for a mediocre 3C and spare change. He's been the best and most consistent forward this year playing a position that's not an organizational strength. Why, after seven years, an organization would want to trade a player that has become one of their few developmental success stories is beyond me.I'm mostly in the same boat (it depends on the term, I don't want to sign him much past the aging curve (4 years or less)), but I do think you have to consider the peril of bringing back the same top 9 forwards next year and expecting different results. Mitts is the easiest piece to move if we want to affect change for the forward group
I mean, the returns at the deadline will be higher, but will be heavily weighted towards futures. If you are looking for a Hall/Larsson style hockey deal, then you have to wait until the summer.
Why?I don’t see Boston doing this.
Not for Mittelstadt, but if we’re trading with Nashville, Adams should be looking at Sissons and Fabbro.I'm not too familiar with their prospect system, wasn't aware he was that slow. Just a former high pick with a big body. Sissons + B tier prospect + late 1st/multiple 2nds (which Nashville also has)
You get some immediate help that fills a hole and ammo to go out this summer and fill the hole that Mittelstadt leaves while changing up the dynamic/structure of the top 9 considerably
Mittelstadt for Ross Colton++ is a similar trade I'd consider as well, as the structure i'd consider as well.
I am also fine with waiting until this summer to deal with it. I don't want to go full term with Mittelstadt, I'd do a 4 year, 24-26M deal with him though.
Sneaky to not place himself with DahlinYou have to be Clague right?
Young centers are worth more than similarly-situated middle-aged wingers. Why?
I went to the Boston board and they didn’t seem overly attached to Beecher. He’s a late 1st who hasn’t developed exactly as they hoped.
I'd be up for adding a mid-tier prospect or pick to push this one over the line. It feels like that's how we should start sprinkling our surplus assets. And he's from Elmira? It was meant to be.Trade idea.
Girgensons (50%) to Boston for Beecher. Boston would need to send down Brazeau and Lohrei to make it work, but they can put Lindholm on LTIR if they need to just to make it to the playoffs. Girgensons is their type of playoff add, who can play center and wing.
I like that trade because I think Adams will eventually need to make some trades, and Beecher slots great as a 4C.
I really would like Adams to take a swing at Fabbro and Broberg as well.
A 30 yr old checking line C with two whole years under contract after this season, an AHL plug, and a late 1st that can be flipped for a 2nd pair D-man or mid-6 FW...for a top-6 C just getting into his prime and still under team control. I mean, how could any GM say no to that? It's an offer no GM could refuse. It's fantastic value that any team in the league would be better off with.Agreed. How do you feel about NAshville's UFAs? Trenin and Novak are both up for grabs. Why?

Novak is a younger center who could be the 4C. I don't know enough about Trenin. How do you feel about NAshville's UFAs? Trenin and Novak are both up for grabs.
Lavoie sort of confirming the Whitney tweet about Tkachuk being on the market. He suggests that Keith Tkachuk may have put the word in his ear about this situation.
Says there's been chatter about Tkachuk since the start of the season and that there's a lot of unrest among the players in Ottawa.
I don’t think any of the above is worth more than a 5th. I specifically don’t think Jost, Robinson, or Comrie have any trade value at all.Asset worth:
Girgensons
Girgensons (50% retained)
Okposo
Okposo (50% retained)
Olofsson
Olofsson (50% retained)
E. Johnson
E. Johnson (50% retained)
Jost
Robinson
Comrie
Guesses?
I think he would be terrible fit as both need some experience in their partner to allow them to grow. What would the forum think if we flipped Noah Ostlund for David Jiricek..
Jiricek would be a nice fit with Owen Power on our second defense.
Sammy - Dahlin
Jiricek - Power
Jokiharju - Clifton
Bryson - R. Johnson
Buccigross openly wondering if Carolina is targeting Casey Mittelstadt. He's not known to be a rumor monger. I take that to mean Caseynis squarely "on the block" which is just a damn shame.
Asplund got a 7th last year so I think Robinson and Jost are about at that level.I don’t think any of the above is worth more than a 5th. I specifically don’t think Jost, Robinson, or Comrie have any trade value at all.
I would love Tkachuk but if he is unhappy in Ottawa how would he be here?Perfect........

1.) What else are we adding? What would the forum think if we flipped Noah Ostlund for David Jiricek..

1.) Necas is a winger. We have a plethora of high-skill wingers. Why would we want Necas?Necas for Mittelstadt would be a change of pace for all involved
Hardly even worth talking aboutI don’t think any of the above is worth more than a 5th. I specifically don’t think Jost, Robinson, or Comrie have any trade value at all.
