For the game, the rules around instigators has calmed it down and goons don't really have a role anymore because you can't shouldn't be rolling out a line that only plays 8 min a game.

Commonality is, refs are still blind to obvious shit and try to calm games down more

Goons and rats are more entertaining for 8 minutes a night than watching Tyson Jost Peyton Krebs and washed up Kyle Okposo.

He demanded a trade before the neck injury that required surgery even happened. Those 2 situations had absolutely nothing to do with each other apart from overlapping timelines.

Can you blame him for that? Team sucks.

If they had traded him after 19-20 like he asked, the haul would have been insane because he was a top 10 forward that season.

We neither understate nor dismiss those who commit atrocities. Ralph earned his appropriate tagline of "Hockey Terrorist." To remember him otherwise does a disservice to those who suffered at his hands.

My point is you could trade or start the basis of a trade with Byram+2025 first (Avs) for an established defenseman like an Anderson. It can be a hockey trade when you guys address 3C and your established RHD in two moves.

Never in a million years. It's like us offering a package around Casey Mittelstadt for McKinnon. There is not one person in the city who would listen to you long enough to finish your first sentence.

I used to watch roller derby. It was hilarious, very entertaining...and I never took it seriously. I like hockey and I like big CLEAN hits if everyone just mans up and keeps playing (a rarity because hurt feelings). Fighting used to be like a wild-west film, and then became mostly staged, and either way it was way too much unnecessary self-inflicted harm for what it gave to the game. I'd rather watch skillful play at both ends of the ice, with only some mean-spirited scum-baggery in response to a dirty hit...which is SUPPOSSED to be well disciplined by the DoPS (spelled "dopes" in reality).

Maybe one day NHL can get it right...probably around the same time the Sabres do.

Not normally. Robinson is usually the lowest on the rankings and his speed and his knack to go to the net would be preferred to a knuckle dragger running around. Now, if there is an opportunity to get someone, like a Hathaway, who isn't a complete liability and answers the call, I'm all for it.

Yes, I posted that in my response. Along with many other athletes in contact sports. Junior Seau shot himself in the stomach because he wanted his brain examined. Other contact sport athletes have also done the same. Is KeyserSoze the person who responded to me is also advocating to the end of contact in football?

Why are we doing Colorado this favour? You don't think we could just trade Tage to Calgary if we wanted Anderson? They are the most C starved team in the league. Makes no sense to help Colorado by trading them our #1 with the hope that the parts we get back can just be flipped again for something we need when we can just use our own parts for it.

You’re building a strawman in a thread that has nothing to do with the topic. Hockey in general has gravitated away from fighting. Some moved away from it because of the impact it has on those who did it and they don’t want to see other people experience, that same sort of outcome. Some think it’s silly because it became staged. Still others wonder why in every other sport, fighting results in an ejection. Nobody has said anything about removing contact and if you would like to build that strawman feel free to go set up a thread about that somewhere else, but this is not the time, nor the place, nor even a solid argument to have about the rest of the sidebar that this topic has become.

You can only compare hockey and football if we watched football players challenge each other after the play, take their helmets off, and start pounding on each others' heads and faces while everyone stood by getting jacked up over it or otherwise condoning it, with nothing but off-setting penalties and going right back to the next play with no ejections.

I trust no one at all who isn't in a uniform, at this time.

They all have proven nothing. In theory, a couple good looking drafts. No playoffs made.
