I think the reason to buyout Skinner would be to change the culture. Can’t have a player like that getting top line minutes and PP1 time while ignoring the coaching, killing the accountability and buy in from the rest of the team.

But I don't see this regime making that kind of move. They're more than happy not to rock the boat and to play out the string while continuing to preach patience.
They can just demote him and still get scoring offense with less ice time. His ability to draw penalties isn't adding to his value with the PP sucking.
You missed the point, I was using that as an example. I could of used any of the maligned children like Cozens, Tuch etc that do the same thing. Far too often they do the low chance stupid play
Picking corners and missing is a huge issue with this team. Take some power off to increase your accuracy and give your team a chance to collect the missed shot before it goes out of the zone. Also the players take so long to decide and follow through with the shot.

I agree with the above, sans the 1-2 good trades to fix the team. I don't think those trades are out there and if they are, it will be very painful
After watching Kulich and Rosen is anyone currently feeling like they can't be moved? Pull the trigger with a 2025 first and top prospect as base for a team ready to blow things up.

The team can’t even ice 9 scoring forwards this year. Many times, they can’t even ice 12 forwards period. Why are we talking about buying out skinner?

A core issue is:

Teams need to be ready to blow it up, lots of sign-offs need to happen

And

That team needs to have that crucial piece we are lacking.

Right now you could make an argument that 3 maybe 4 teams would be willing to sell a key piece right now, problem is the pieces they are willing to sell are not what we need.

My guess is Skinner is a defensive liability on a team full of defensive liabilities and he makes the most money.

I thought about what you wrote this weekend during the drives to and from our tournament this weekend.

Overall: I don't disagree with anything you wrote.

To sum up my thoughts: If I were a veteran GM who wanted to get another job or a different job, the Sabres are the team I'd try to get into. Teardown GMs tend not to make it to the end of the teardown or far into the rebuild. Adams is falling into the rebuild GM problem, which is that he's made very good trades to tear down and the patience not to piss away draft picks or prospects. But the results aren't there, and they aren't going to come fast.

An accomplished, veteran GM that's has the sense to listen to his scouts and not piss away assets could make 1-2 good trades and fix the team. The assets are definitely available.
Then comes the salary cap in 2025 and 2026 summer periods.

people seem to forget just two years ago Eichel was traded.

Panic move….

It’s just his turn …

Panic move….
He is getting up there and will get passed by a winger soon enough. Not panic.
I can see Quinn/Peterka being our top line wingers moving forward.

Checks out I suppose.

Things will be more clear soon as teams fall out and expectations flip.

So Bryson frees a roster spot for Quinn, and we carry 7 D.

Waive Comrie when Greenway is ready. Murray (or Kulich*/Rosen) and Jost stay while Girgs and Skinner are out.

*Kulich will be with Czechia's WJC team in Sweden for the next 3 weeks.

So would I, but I see the season as essentially gone so there is no need to rush him. I suspect Adams and Granato don't agree so they are probably still scrambling to get him in the line up quick in the hopes of saving the season.
The season isn’t lost.

they go at a 6-3-1 pace their final 50 games 29+ 5*13=94

Quinns injury needs conditioning stint before he plays nhl games. Say in early January he’s ready.

Do you believe this team with these coaches is capable of going at a 6-3-1 pace over a 50 game stretch? I haven't seen any evidence they can. That is where my feeling the season is essentially over comes from. The team can't even win 2 in a row and they'd essentially need 2 wins for every 1 loss over a 50 game stretch.

That is a 107 point pace.

What about this team makes you think they can play at a 105+ point pace for 50 games?

I think we'll see a few hot stretches before the end of the season. I simply don't believe they have the coaching or lineup to sustain it for 50 games.

Loved Bill Paxton's character. Some would say he was a pessimist. I would call him a realist that calls shit out when it's shit. He just needed a voice on his shoulder to keep him focused. Despite his negativity, he fought like a bad ass all the way to his horrific demise. I want that guy on my squad every day. The Sabres need a couple like Private Hudson too.

Jost trash

Krebs trash

Okposo needs to go

Greenway needs to go.

VO needs to go.

Girgs and Robinson should be upgraded on.

Power should be traded for a legit top 4 veteran Dman.

Listen on any player not named Benson, Quinn, Dahlin.

Hire Gallant with interim Assistants James Patrick and Jay McKee

Move Kevyn Adams up to President of Hockey Ops.

I don't have a GM replacement in mind right now.
