If Nelson is dealt, I'll still be shocked if it's for just futures. We'll see, but people hoping for a haul of prospects and picks might be disappointed.

My guess is that Lou tried to extend him for what he thought was a reasonable term/amount and it didn't work out, and now he'll pivot to try to deal him for immediate help. Even if it's a UFA that can be extended. That's why in another thread I threw out a deal to WPG that would return Ehlers (more than just those 2 pieces).

Its a f***ing joke that with Lou on his previous 2 teams (Devils, Leafs) he was known for laying the ground work to set up 2 successful rebuilds, yet on the Islanders his last hurrah, he is going to burn this thing to the ground just looking for 1 last ditch effort to win which we know isn't going to happen based on how this team is constructed

Comparables for top six centers in the last? We sent a 1st, 2nd and conditional third for JGP. Toronto send a 1st, 2nd and 3rd for Oreilly and Acciari

If they are indeed selling, I’d prefer NHL ready prospects or young NHL’ers who can help in the short and long term.
That would be ideal - hopefully it's what Lou does. I just don't see picks and prospects being the main return, but who knows.

I just saw that Staple said JJ Peterka to NYR rumors are not legit. So maybe it was just the wrong NY team? Dobson?

I just hope this is just the beginning of taking a clear direction with this team (rebuild, retool, regenerate etc). We’ve done the rudderless in mediocre waters approach; it didn’t work.

Good return, I wonder what the Kylington addition means to the blue line.

Pageau and Palmieri next- I'd even look to see if there are any takers on Duclair

Didn't realize Kylington was already 27, it is what it is.

Does this mean we are moving a defenseman, or was this purely salary stuff? Seems we've got a log jam on defense now.

Kylington is 28 and his contract is up after this year. We have George, Reilly, Perunovich... I think that was for salary
Haha, yeah I just typed this, hehe. Thought maybe it was a salary thing.

I think he was for salary purposes but a defenseman has to be on the move because there are just too many of them now. Doesn't mean Lamoriello doesn't like him more than some of the other guys we already have.

Wow, count me surprised. The main pieces coming back are futures. Ritchie is their top prospect, plus a 1st in '26 or '27 is a good return. Kylington is talented but just can't stay healthy.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Brock extend with COL.

Is Lou bailing on this season, or are there more moves to come?
