Roster/Rumors/Speculation/Trade Talk - 2024-25: Re-Tool, Re-Group, Re-Mix, Re-Build

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
  • If you connect the "buzz" over the past few months all signs point to Nelson winding up in Minnesota this summer.

  • Connecting further...That's why he keep rejecting Lou's midnight texts of "I love you. I NEED you. Please come back."

  • In the end Nelson might be the hero here if he rejects all of Lou's advances and literally saves us from Lou by forcing him to trade Nelson at the deadline.

I just called Brock. It’s so simple . Enough of this Twitter bs. He was polite and said I’m staying money is not an issue . Also his family is a Long Island family and this is where he is staying .

I think there are a few possible destinations for Nelson, we certainly aren’t one of them.

Some of you here may be Springsteen fans like me. Others may not care for him. Makes no matter to me. I’ll close this post with a verse from him.

Lou offering these aging vets new contracts is GM malpractice. I want to be completely clear here since someone might want to bring up old threads on this subject next season. I have absolutely no doubt that this will be a terrible move on way too many levels.

Is a dream a lie if it don't come true
Or is it something worse?

All dreams of what Nelson could get back right now in a trade aside...

What kind of deal would it take to keep the 33-year-old Nelson in the fold?

I mean, he's in line to get his ONE big payday this summer. This is his last shot - after never having played the free agency game before.

If Lou finds a way to keep him, it's going to involve big money or big term, if not both. I don't think there's any such thing as a "team-friendly" deal in this case. It would actually be irresponsible of him to go that route.

Over the next two seasons, no less than Barzal (9.15), Horvat (8.5), and Lee (7) will be eating up a quarter (or more) of the payroll.

Everyone hoping Nelson is re-upped (if he's not traded) has to assume that he's probably requiring the same contract as Horvat (admittedly, likely with fewer years) to stick around.

Does anyone think we're getting anywhere near the Cup by putting that kind of money into him at this stage of his career?
If he's not taking a team friendly deal, he's gone. Probably why he hasn't decided yet. He's pondering a team friendly deal to not move his kids and make a comfortable choice, or get paid. I don't think Lou's offered him a Horvat deal. I really hope he hasn't....

The good news is if the news is true and they're rushing to negotiate with Palms and Nelson, that means that Lou probably isn't keen on going through the deadline with either unsigned.

So that narrows it down to either them being traded or them being signed by this time tomorrow. Hopefully the former.

Nelson should slip Lou one of his edibles (sativa), that’ll loosen up his trade line. Go try for a cup Brock, if you desperately want to be here, come back in the summer (I know this never happens)

So if Lou signs them does that mean he is going to be a buyer tommorow because this team as is can't win a cup and isn't that what it's all about?
It’s not about that, it’s about family! - Lou “Vin” Diesel

If Lou sits on the TDL, he has to go. This is the perfect opportunity to get better in the long term. On the off-chance the current group makes the playoffs, we’re first round fodder. We need to move on.
