A couple of good tilts for Jonah Gadjovich against the BJ's. First, he dances with another ex-Canuck prospect in Joseph LaBate then he held in there nicely with Mathieu Olivier. Tough way to make a buck.

Right?? Like how come the stars never band together to save, like, the Sacramento Kings. It's always the predictable places.

I have this fever dream that one day we'll get our Tavares pyjamas moment.

I mean, I grew up spuriously backhanding pucks into the net pretending I was scoring the OT goal in game 7 to win the Cup for Vancouver. Surely I can't be the only Vancouverite to do so.

Whoever actually does that, their name will never die in this city. Who wouldn't yearn for that?

Makar will always outscore Hughes when he plays with MacKinnon. The guy has a 6 point lead for the Art Ross right now.

Despite his 6 point game, Hughes still has a higher PPG right now. Avs fans would have you believe he's garbage.

Rantanen to DAL not happening because, all evidence continues to suggest, he is going to give Colorado a freebie by going back there. That damn franchise was born with a silver spoon in its mouth and has cruised on the strength of that ever since.

TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston has broken down what took place between the Carolina Hurricanes and Dallas Stars in Mikko Rantanen trade talks.

Johnston explains that the Hurricanes and Stars worked out the frame work for a deal, but it was contingent on Dallas reaching an extension, which has not happened.

"It sounds like other avenues are now being explored on the Rantanen front," Johnston adds.

Here's the Mikko Rantanen situation as it stands now:

Step 1 was DAL and CAR agreeing to the framework of a trade, which happened.

Step 2 is DAL reaching a contract extension with Mikko Rantanen, which hasn't happened.

There's no trade without Step 2 being satisfied.

Really don't get San Jose trading away Zetterlund for a 2nd. He's a prime aged player that is +8 on a team with a -69 (giggity) goal di They already have a bunch of extra picks and the 2nd doesn't move the needle at all These are the types of trades that keep you perpetually at the bottom. Great trade for Ottawa

I agree on Zetterlund. You need players to play with Smith/Cellibrini. Going all young unless they can manage to acquire vets in the off-season is going to be a problem.

Looking at the deals/teams, Wash/Win/Car/LA kept their 1st rounder. Wash/Win opted for Zetterlund and Beauv for a 2nd. Assuming Brock didn't have either on his no trade list, would have thought he'd land a 1st from either club. Or Carolina, for their 1st if they were looking to add back a roster spot after losing both Necas/Drury in the net of the Rant transaction.

If both Suter/Brock walk, it's a bad management. But, everything for them probably comes down to Quinn. What do they need to do/accomplish to convince him to stay past next season? I probably would have done everything I could to obtain assets, even if that meant missing the PO and using those assets to obtain players after the season.

Geeeez, why do they keep doing these intermission "interviews" with the players? How many ways can they say that they need to get pucks to the net? Cringe almighty.

I think they figured Zetterlund was done improving and he’s stalled out. Not a long term asset for them and potential UFA next summer. They do get back a younger big body center that is still improving as well.

I like a lot of things other teams did:

1. Boston capitalized on their team not being good enough.
2. Lou sold Nelson for a very nice haul.
3. Colorado looks great down the middle.
4. Dallas with the Rant move and re-upping Wyatt.
5. Florida getting Jones with nice retention.

Not a fan of Carolina but atleast they pivoted and got some decent assets back.
