I’m a bit surprised at this. Aren’t these supposed to be grown men doing a job for lots of money? Like STFU and get to work. You don’t have to like each other but you have to work together.
Professional athletes are often babies, living sheltered lives far removed from reality. They are basically only preoccupied with themselves.

Yep, that's true, but the goal differential is more positive when he's not.

What's the wins/losses with him in the lineup vs. without? I'm surprised you left those numbers out since you had already made all of that effort!

I'd bet they win more with him than without, which is the most important metric of all.

Ok I just did the homework.

Barzal missed 21 games.

In those games this is the Isles record:
8 regulation wins
7 regulation losses
1 shootout win
4 OT losses
1 shootout loss

Using the NHL method this is their record:
9W 7L 4OTL

That’s pretty similar to their overall record. It’s a small sample size, but they did worse in overtime without him. Sort of makes sense given the lack of speed with the rest of our team. 4 on 4 OT is also not real hockey and doesn’t exist in the playoff world but if you’re a bubble team those things count just so you get to the dance.

BTW, if the Isles traded a 1st for Miller, I'm sure the reaction on this board would be... mixed.

Now would this be considered a "retool" move by the NYR? Didn't they just "rebuild" a few years ago? Here are their top forwards, FWIW:

Panarin 33 years old
Zibanejad 31
Miller 31
Kreider 33
Trocheck 31
Lafreniere 23 ("the rebuild")

Miller move is a desperate all in move for this year...maybe next.

I like the Miller trade for the Rags. I say that as a Rags hater and for the reason you listed. Miller makes them better right now but he may be a locker room problem and his contract might not age well.

Chytil, while one injury away from retirement, was a good player for them and lifted the games of guys around him.

What worries me is that somehow, like we’ve seen before, the Rags find a way to send Zibs and Kreider packing and receive assets back in return.

The table was because of a specific conversation that was talking about scoring so I didn't include it. I can go back and do it later if I have time (and someone else didn't already do it).

I agree, their core is old and they are going for it while they think they are still contenders. They’re essentially doing what most posters here dont want the Isles to do - double down on a mediocre roster.

Nah, it's ok... it's not worth the effort.

Just say I'm probably right and we'll move on.

I don’t think you need to bother - the Isles record with Barzal is slightly better than without. This year the Isles are 14-15 with Barzal (including OT losses), and 9-12 without him. While W/L record with certain players is not particularly useful to assess the value of a player, this record comparison should at least put in serious doubt the idea that the Isles are better without Barzal than with him, which quite frankly, is a ridiculous position to take.

If your view is that the Isles are better without Barzal, then you are certainly not right. But probably best to move on.
