I know it is McDavid but I was watching the Oilers and Senators last night and McDavid scored on a simple shot from the slot area. I thought to myself, "there is not a player on the Islanders who has a quick release to score from there."

I said the same thing during our power play in OT. Also in the 3rd period when Brock Nelson was wide open and fired wide from 10 feet out.

We don’t have any gifted shooters. It was an issue in the 2021 semi-finals and nothing has changed since then.

You are correct. Now I remember around the 3rd week of October checking team shooting percentage and we were in single digits.

Elite money is 11 plus million. Not 9 that barzal gets. Also Dobson won't be commanding that as well. Translation they are getting paid to be very good

When you are more than 200th in scoring, yeah, gotta move the goalposts on elite and salary.

I think we’ve been around 12% all season long. The Isles couldn’t finish when Barzal was healthy.

Even after shooting 12% the last 8 games (not counting yesterday) they were still bottom 3 in the league when I checked. Possibly lower after last nights game

It’s special teams killing this squad.

It’s clearly mental….3 coaches same special teams results. The fact that they have gone as far as they have being the having a brutal PP and PK is impressive

This is what kills me about a proposal I continued to make over the summer for a guy like Olofsson. The guy can flat out shoot and the rest of the team cannot. But it gets poo-poo'd because "hE's NOt a GooD hOCkeY pLayEr"

Well at this point, Matt Martin isn't either but he's still cracking the Isles lineup.

And what do you know, before Olofsson got hurt for Vegas, he scored 3 goals in 4 games. We have to stop letting perfection be the enemy of good.

People are very quick to forget that the top line was absolutely cooking before Duclair went down. Was only a few games obviously but Duclair has a track record of success playing with guys like Barkov, Kucherov and Brady Tkachuk and was immediately meshing with Barzal and Horvat.

The thing that has hurt him over his career is that he seems to be made of glass and we’re experiencing that firsthand right now. As long as he’s not hampered by the groin he should go back to being effective when he’s back on the ice.
