If Hyman is out too, then at least let some others have some playing time up the lineup.

RNH McDavid Podkolzin
Skinner Draisaitl Kapanen
Janmark Henrique Brown
Ryan Perry

Move Skinner to PP unit 1.

I presume we're going to be stuck with 11 forwards or will the team actually call someone up?

Ullmark getting paid 8.25mill/season. Think about that. Fans here crying about finding a better goalie than Skinner. Maybe Skinner can ask for 9mill/season.

So something is happening. Or at least I think there's something happening.

The post-game interviews done by McDavid, Skinner and Knoblauch only took questions from Oilers TV hosts Paige Martin and Tony Brar.

That seems peculiar because after the Montreal loss they took questions normally from various journalists...

Positives:
-- McDavid (14 points in the past six games. It's gonna be hard to catch MacKinnon and Kaprizov, but I sort of feel those guys have somewhat shot their early-season bolts.)
-- Draisaitl (maybe he can take over the goals-lead soon?)
-- After a horrible first three games, the Oilers are 10-5-2, which isn't bad.
-- PK is finally achieving basic competence (in my opinion, not having Nurse on the PK is a good thing).

Negatives:
-- Aside from two guys, the entire team cannot score.
-- Against what I would consider "good" teams this season (Winnipeg, Dallas, Carolina, Jersey, Vegas, Toronto), the Oilers' record is 0 and 6, and they've been outscored by 24 to 8, or 4-1 in each game. Now, if you consider Vancouver a good team, the Oil have 1 win by an impressive score, but I'm not yet convinced Vancouver is actually good.
-- 4 of the next 5 games are vs. Minnesota, New York, Colorado, and Vegas. So, I guess we'll see what this team is made of...

Fake ass Olympics means nothing. Does anyone even remember what happened at the whatever-it-was called Tournament that featured the Country of North America?

Yeah, I do. It was great for the sport IMO. Tickets to see NHL talent for $20. People in Toronto too cheap/poor finally got a chance to enjoy live hockey with some of their fav players.

Still need more offense from guys without a 2 or a 9 on their backs. We already know that you can't win the big game unless you get contributions up and down the lineup.

That late goal sucked for so many reasons.

That balloon was floated by our own broadcast crew a couple weeks ago. I would hope the disastrous seasons Ulmark and Swayman are having is proof to our management that you can’t pay goalies that much, especially mediocre or worse ones and that if Skinner thinks he should be making any more than he is now then it’s time to move on from him.

Some of us are going to be upset when he gets a 5+ extension in the summer lol

He can ask for whatever he wants. He won't be playing here.

This team has never had consistent offense from a line that doesn't have McDavid on it.

Best we got was 22-23 when a bunch of players scored like decent 3rd liners (bunch of 10+ goal scorers) but no reliable second line combination.

Everyone’s worried about goaltending but our combined RW including Kapanen are minus players JSkinner RNH and Podkolzin have 5 goals total in 20 games. Team is averaging 2.75 gf. Need a lot more than another 4RW

No one coming in here produces unless they are on a line with McDavid. Been a pretty consistent theme.

Maroon and Hyman are the only two wingers that really have worked here and both had to be stapled to McDavid.

Chillax bruh

Skinner did what he needed to do. He did not make 1 big stop until it was 4-1 (breakaway where the Sen tried going 5 hole). Then he did make another one afer that to keep it at 4-1.

That is his job

The only 2 big chances they had before? Let in goal 1 and other hit the post. Another wraparound he has no idea where the puck was and the Sens player shot it into his far pad. I was watching him closely. Some point shots he had no idea where the puck was.

This was a breeze for Skinner, but every game will not be like this.

If the Oilers are fine with having him for another run at this salary, that is their choice. I don't think we ever win a cup with him though. I would rather see another guy brought in and push Skinner. Both fight for #1 spot. They are not giving it to Pickard

Sens seem to be on this infinite rebuild to nowhere. Basically the same team, year after year.
Ratboy Jr made a big stink on making the playoffs this year and yet I forgot he was even playing last night outside the last 5 minutes of the game. Somehow they decided to make him their captain. Stutzle always plays hard every time I watch him. Great player.

Oilers look gassed. By our game on Saturday they will have played 5 games in 8 days in 4 cities (and 7 games in 12 days) with the 2 toughest teams coming up. Then 6 days off. Who makes this stupid schedule? Oh wait...NHL...

It’s funny all those Ulmark goals would be excused if it was Skinner. “Oooh Drai on the breakway, oooh let Bouchard in like that, gave the best player in the world space… no other team gives up chances like this.”

He did good but settle down. 1 good game doesn’t magically erase 10 bad.

Ullmark was a product of a team oriented system more than his own ability. Let’s not confuse his and Skinner’s similar play this season for reasons for commensurate salaries. That would be extreme folly.

I posted this on the Dustin Schwartz thread along with some other narrative.

Also looks like 50+ goal McDavid is showing signs of re-emerging.

6 goals in the last 6 games, maybe it's starting to dawn on him to not try and force feed everything to Hyman.

Zach will come around, you don't need to be so freaking predictable, you're a 60+ goal scorer in this league, enough is enough.
The Hyman whifffffff on the beautiful setup by McDavid in the MTL game. Him slapping the boards with his stick was him being annoyed at Hyman but also realizing at the exact moment that he is going to have to be 60+ goal scorer this season instead of 100 assist man....hard to be both.

Always nice to watch the Oilers play guilty.

This is a good hockey team that gets better when they're emotionally involved. To which they have a tough time doing early in Seasons.
And unfortunately... early in playoff series which is why they don't win cups.

The Edmonton tippy toe'ers haha. But man once they dive in..haha

Lets hope they can get on a big streak again or 2 of them. They have it in them to win 7-9 in a row twice. We are scraping by with a bunch of things not going our way yet. Some tough games coming up.

I do believe offence is a bigger need right now.
