Yeah I mean just responding to posts on the message board we’re all on. I’m sure we’ll win the next game and it’ll be the anti-Barzal contingent’s turn again… but for now I’m going to keep pointing out how dumb that sounds
Remember they cannot finish With or Without Barzal.
The only difference is 4 giveaways and 4 takeaways by the same player extra.
To take the next "Level" he needs to finish.
I For one root hard for him to do that, but will not play "Let's pretend" either.

5v5 they look pretty good. Hard to believe this is the same Lambert team. They create enough and defend pretty well. Cant finish though. And then when it’s not 5v5 in any situation…they suck. It’s a little baffling. Been going on for awhile now too.
Can’t finish. Makes everything else kind of ring hollow. This was the team’s problem last year and most years.

no for sure, he holds the puck a lot and skates around the outside a ton and in the end it ends up leading to lots of low danger chances.. but often times it also completely nullifies the other team's ability to have the puck at all. would love it if he ended up being the kind of guy that could also put it in the back of the net, but I think we're beyond that point and know who he is. A 70-80 point player who, despite his below NHL average finishing and playmaking skill still possess elite/dominant puck possession skills which more than outweigh whatever deficiencies he has

all that being said, a guy that doesn't score goals isn't going to win you a cup by himself. but he sure as f*** isn't a problem

Same old Islanders. Those wins vs Colorado & Vancouver are outliers, this is not a serious hockey team.

Really need to get 2 points to close out this road trip in Detroit now

The team is a middle of the league team and the only way to improve is to draft and develop your own talent. George is an example of what should have started 4 years ago because high end talent can’t be found on waiver wire and is rarely a Free agent either.Hopefully the success of George changes the mindset of our older GM and we explore the idea of getting faster and younger

Which has translated into nothing on moving the team forward.

You can chase building a team around a Crosby, but a Barzal, a player that 7 years has shown, no one can play with him for an extended period, yeah, you don’t chase that, you trade it.

Missed the game. I for one am just happy that they're reclaiming their title as OTL Kings leading the league with 5 already

Varlamov was outstanding last night. Mildly surprised to see Hutton as the odd man out last night. Cholowski was effective however. Not so sure George was.

Dobber was still on the PK?

the kid made some nice saves for calgary , especially the 2 on 1 with 5 mins left on Nelson / Sippy . Dobson beat him clean in OT , an inch or so lower we're seeing a nice bar-down point shot gwg .

some of the guys looked sluggish even though they had 2 days off between road games

Daccord and Wolf both had strong games against the Isles. Effort was there, just the lack of finishing. I have no idea what Roy's lines will look like when players return from injuries. I don't think it is automatic that 27-14-44 stay together.

maybe he isn't the problem, but he also isn't the solution - so let's trade him to see if the return could be of more value. if not then it's the same, nothing lost. worst case the return stinks then it's the current team playing without him and also no problem. But holding out and wait to see if he can do it better someday is delusional

The margins are so thin and the competition is tight. The Isles need to work on one timers in practice, odd man rushes and on the power play. One time slap shots, snap shots, etc. Dobson hit the bar last night and Anderson's goal last night are prime examples.

agreed on Varly and Hutton. Varly's only mistake was overcommitting on the PK shot that went it, other than that, he was great. Hutton has looked steady, but theyr'e probably basing the decision on handedness. And while George has looked good at times, and I get that people are excited by him, he didn't play a great game and probably needs more seasoning in the minors.
