Foote is living off of his name + draft status, if they are going cheap for 3RD I’d rather sign Erik Johnson to a one year, league min. deal.

I would rather even give Ryan Graves 4 million than give that amount to Mayfield. There are so many more options available than expected. With some of the forwards now available, we should not even be looking at Engvall and Mayfield until every other better option falls through the cracks.

I came here to post the same thing about Cizikas. His relatively low AAV makes him more attractive than other trade candidates on the Isles roster. He’s still an asset but much less of a factor on the PK and his point production continues to tail off. Blame his linemates all you want but part of it is on him. He has 4 years left on his deal and that’s a big long term liability.

Trading JGP and his higher AAV makes more sense in a vacuum but seeing all the buyouts across the league has convinced me that there are no takers for overpaid $5+M/yr players.

Paying guys like Martin, Clutter and Johnston for multiple years still hurts even if individually their AAVs don’t appear all that high on paper.

I would absolutely love Erik Johnson here. So many players are available and I have a bad feeling they end up with Engvall and Mayfield. At this point in time the Islanders actually have cap space.

Any interest in McLeod , Boqvist and Bastian ? I know we have bigger issues than bottom 6 players. it just seems like these are Lou type of moves, Especially if we wind up moving Pageau

I totally forgot tomorrow was the start of free agency…mostly because in islanderland it is just another day or full of big disappointment

I've seen some posts talking about moving Palmieri. That's fine depending on the return, but I'm also more than fine keeping him. Unless I was watching different playoff games than other people were?

BTW, I'll be away from a computer for about a week but will keep up with all the "action" on my phone. :laugh:

Palmieri I am fine with keeping. I would much rather move on from Pageau who has an additional year and did not have nearly the playoff run Palmieri had.

Unfortunately the rangers don't have enough cap space to sign Bobby Holik. :(

I would be interested in any of them. If I had to rank them - 1. McLeod (reminds me of Casey), 2- Boqvist (plays all 3 positions and has speed) - 3-Bastian (to me is like a younger Clutter).
