So if Krapsoft's distinguished Rags career is indeed over, when do they raise his jersey to the rafters? On his first return or wait a bit?

Durandeau has played 2 games.
If the Isles get one marginal long term starter out of Fasching, Aho, Johnston and Durandeau that would be a plus. Meanwhile we have all four of them playing at the same time.

Sure I like what I’ve seen from Durandeau but FFS people it’s 2 games. Like most fans I love high energy players who actually look like they give a shit. It’s fine to be optimistic but the truth is that most of these types of players flame out and settle into their AHL/borderline NHL player slots.

This kid might stick. Who knows? No one here does but at least he’s worth watching.

With what?

I really don't see NYI making any significant moves at all. As it stands, NYI are 15th in points %. The only team lower than them playing good hockey is the Senators. It seems pretty likely that unless there's a collapse (which we won't know until after the deadline), the #1 pick will transfer to the Canucks.

Doesn't seem smart to me to deal the 2nd round pick, too. And for what? Will it get Henrique? Maybe, but I doubt it. And even if they did acquire Henrique, what are they going to use to shed salary for 2023-24?

The bad scenario we have to be prepared for is not making the playoffs, and losing Mayfield for nothing.
With what? Rangers are about to get patrick kane for kravstov. Anything is possible

What I don’t get is if you’re Chicago why are you ruining the return just to please a guy since he had a great career for your team? Kane can only reject a certain number of teams and many are interested. Seems to me you’d say we love you dude but you’ll have to spend 3-4 months here because this is a business we are in here

Hawks traded Dach for a first but would accept inferior Kravstov in lieu of a first? Isn't Dach younger?
Kane only wants Rangers. He's forcing their hand. They have to take what they can get.

No matter how many times people try to explain it to me I will never get why every single time a player wants to play for the Rags these teams are willing to help them not only get the player for next to nothing but also help them fit in the salary under the cap. Explain to me how the Rags can get Patrick Kane for a bust that is probably going back to the KHL AND get a third team to take the salary hit to help them out, but a team like the Islanders would have to give up a first round pick and top prospect to get a middle six forward or bottom pairing defenseman. How does this make sense? And I dont want to hear that it is because all these players want to play for the Rags. Their current teams are under no obligation to take pennies on the dollar just to give their player what they want. It happens time and time again where these teams give in to help the Rags, accept nothing in return and then on top of that help them get out from their salary cap issues they created for themselves. It is just ridiculous.

Kane let it be known that he'd either have hip surgery or just go home for rest of season if he wasn't traded or re-signed. He tanked the whole season until the Rangers said they were concerned about his garbage play and the cranky hip. After they traded for Tank, Kane decided to go into trade drive

Kane is a self serving smug piece of arrogance and his battle cry is "I'm the one with the no movement clause"

It is because all these players want to play for the Rags.
In Kane's case he wants to enjoy 4am closing times and NYC women that aren't his wife

His oversized ego tells him that winning a cup with another franchise will make him legendary

It does make sense. Just look at our fans. No one wants to play for a team smack dab in the middle of nowhere surrounded by foul mouthed embarrassing suburbanites. The Isles have always built through the draft because they simply had to. The loyal players here who stayed after being drafted learn to call the oblong shaped parking lot for malls and NYC their home. They don’t play for the fans, they play for Long Island itself as in literally the land. They carved out a section of NY put a banner on it like they were on the moon and exclaim this is our home and we protect our home regardless of the orange and blue painted rats that crawl all over it and erect billboards to shit on you.

Aye I think back to the seventies and early eighties. Now those were great fans but we’ve moved on and relocated to other parts of the country still loyal to the crest but want nothing to do with greaseballs that took our place. ( but then again there are those Hofstra students- they seem like a fun bunch)

And this is also why the Panarins, Kanes, heck even Gaudreaus don’t want to come to LI and we have to over pay just to get some above average UFA to come to LI. They and their wives want the class, the theater’s, the restaurants, the museums, well dressed and educated ladies and gentlemen cheering them on, the big lights on Broadway. They don’t want Roosevelt Field, a dilapidated Carvel store, the LIE, and people driving in circles having barbecues in the parking lot. Really?

That all said though I now live in Tampa or as we say here, “Champa” I stayed with my Isles because I remember when LI was the Rome of the hockey world. I have nostalgia for the team and I have great respect for the players who still wear the Islander crest with pride despite what they see around them. At least if they have money they can still find a nice house on the North Shore somewhat isolated from it all and kudos to the players that do charity work.

I don’t know if that explanation helped but I tried. I think Islander fans should be grateful we still have a team on Long Island. It’s a small miracle if you ask me and while some may say what I just wrote was rather harsh I would reply with it’s almost laughable if it wasn’t so true.

that may well be....if i were the rangers, from what i saw tonight, i'd make that deal pronto. winless in 4 i think after wings beat them soundly
Nothing would make me happier than the Islanders making the playoffs. Yeah it will be Carolina and Boston but this team will be solidified as The perfect spoiler if they make it.

Hard to imagine with Durandeau, Holmstrom, Fasching, Koivula, Johnson, Aho and Martin playing in a playoff race and Barzal out. It seems so far fetched right now, but it just takes some better play for a full game defensively IMO and we know these guys have it in them to play defense when it matters.

10 of the Rag$ remaining games directly impact the teams the Islanders are battling with. They will need the Rag$ help so trade away for Kane.

I really cannot tell if this was meant to be sarcastic, but if this post was serious it is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read on here. Isles fans are "foul mouthed greaseballs" but Rags fans are "well dressed and educated ladies and gentlemen?" This has to be a joke.

If that ends up happening, it has 0 bearing on NYI's situation.

NYI do not have the assets to acquire a player who could make a significant talent difference for them in the top-6, like Henrique. Otoh, they could acquire potentially useful bodies like, as I mentioned, someone like Sheary who is imo better than a returning Bailey right now. Or Lars Eller. Or Ivan Barbashev (STL). Or Derek Grant (ANA). It all depends upon cost, but imo it wouldn't hut NYI to get players who can play in multiple roles, even if they aren't the types who one dreams of acquiring.
