I’ll take a win over a loss any day. Nevertheless, I can’t say I was particularly impressed with last night’s play. True enough, they beat a pretty good team but the isles play was not particularly inspiring. You might say that the same could’ve been said during their two recent runs to the semi finals, but I’d have to disagree on that. This is a different and clearly less talented team with a lesser coach.

Perhaps this post might be lumped in with what is currently being considered spam. Personally, I think that’s laughable. We are all fans here, but I don’t see things as rosy as some others do.

Lou should not be adding here. Which ever team gets the seventh or eighth playoff slot is going absolutely nowhere this year. He needs to stop giving away assets.
This is to be taken as a comment on the Isles as much as the inaccurate take on the Isles by opposing fans.

Last night’s game honestly looked like how opposing fans described the playoff Isles… low talent, playing structure, relying on goaltending and getting lucky.

The reality of this Trotz teams were that they were more skilled then realized and they were comfortable playing a layered coverage that ceded puck control and chances that they were coached to manage.

As for giving assets? Well I don’t mind giving a little more if it ALSO opens up some more cap space for next year.

I really want Max Domi on this team. Think he would help isles out big time. Wilde 2nd/‘24 3rd/Bailey/Wilde and salo. Give up a bit extra for them to take Bailey off our hands. Hopefully get JGP back soon.

Lee-Horvat-Palmeri
Parise-Domi-Nelson
Durandeau-JGP-Fashing
Martin-Cizikas-Holmstrom

If we get barzal back

Lee-Horvat-Barzal
Parise-Nelson-Palmeri
Durandeau-JGP-Domi
Martin-Cizikas-Fashcing

Idk what do y’all think, too much? Would think they could resign him for 3.5ish? And yes then move JGP at draft for assets and make domi 3c
Domi is also a motherf***er. Feel like opposing teams hate him. He's always had what it takes to be a legit player.

I pretty much agree but I’ll add this.

The Isles played the way they need to play with their current talent level which is mediocre at best. That’s the reality and not a dig. They can be a better than average team with that type of play.

The necessity for them to win this way is for Sorokin to continue his outstanding play. He did that last night and between his play and some serious puck luck we got a W. That a magic potion that may keep things interesting but won’t win a first round playoff series.

There is zero to currently complain about. The Islanders went out and beat Pittsburgh in regulation and Winnipeg as well. All without Barzal.

Durandeau and Fasching both should be roster players full time. I would even argue that Johnston and Martin have cemented their places in the bottom six. Johnston should have been given a chance for over two years now.

Holmstrom came up big last night after a couple of rough games in my opinion. He's a bigger guy and the Isles need to be patient with him. I am not sure where the potential is but I would assume somewhere in the middle six.

The Isles are in a VERY interesting situation in regards to LTIR. If they continue to play at this pace and make the playoffs they could realistically keep Barzal on LTIR until the playoffs and acquire another big time player. Just food for thought.

I have seen much worse teams win first rounds. One thing this NYI squad can do. Win playoff rounds, they have proved it vrs some pretty good teams. Long shot to pull out a first round upset, but not out of the question. Rather not play Boston.. Thank you

If there's one thing that is abundantly clear about this stretch of the Bridgeport Islanders taking the ice is that there is no place for Josh Bailey on this roster going forward. It's time for the younger kids to take his place permanently.

Addition by subtraction…

I wonder if he is an LTIR possibility given this injury.

Not exactly sure what to think of this, either a big trade or the Caps are giving up

Those two as a package would be very appealing to a contending team.

But yeah. A team in the midst of a playoff race sitting two regulars so that they can trade them. I guess that's the dream of some on this board, but it sure seems like giving up to me.

That was my initial thought as well.

Durandeau has played 2 games.
If he struggled in those 2 games, he'd be considered a bust.

Makes sense for Boston. In case they meet in the first round… they have to do something in response to Sebastian Aho on the Islanders. :sarcasm:

I'm seeing Orlov and Hathaway to BOS for Clifton, Zboril and Smith.

Maybe just Smith and picks now. Different people saying different things. Whatever.

Have a feeling those other players are heading elsewhere, as Orlov got double cap retained, allegedly.

Anywho, if Washington is selling, go grab Tom Wilson...
