Signs your GM isn't getting the job done...

You're talking about Grant Hutton as a solution.
You're complaining about a potential low-cost in-house solution to replace Mayfield at RHD on the bottom pairing. Can we save this post for when Lou signs Mayfield and you complain that he paid too much for a bottom pairing RHD? ;)

"Why are we paying a third pairing defenseman 4.65M per when we have a home grown right shot defenseman signed for two more years at 775K ready to make the jump??? I repeat, 775K!!! Again, Lou mismanaging his cap, we're screwed..."

Lol... hot take much?

Kurtis MacDermid is currently a top 8 option for the Colorado Avalanche's Stanley Cup defending roster. Phillippe Myers and Ian Cole are going to play top six minutes on the second place Lightning.

I get the frustration with the Isles and their forward group. But what is this strange hangup about the defensive unit?
If I were a Tampa fan, I'd be hoping Chernak will be anchoring that 2nd pair with whatever other piece of garbage they put out there

Your point about them being not nearly as good is very well taken! No doubt they'll be missing McDonagh

I’m not necessarily even suggesting that Tampa’s Defense is bad. As much as trying to make the point that we all tend to get a bit myopic about the Islanders and focus on the weak links. Then overblowing with notions like… “As it stands, this is not a cup contending defense.”

But just month ago the Colorado Avalanche with Jack Johnson clinched a Stanley Cup against The Tampa Bay Lightning and Zach Bogosian.

IMO, that Leafs fan who had the "fight" with the little Marner dude looked way more like Jim Morrison than Mike Smith does.

Me and Cup Holders figured that when Smith is all sweaty and he lifts his helmet and his hair is bedraggled all over the place, we imagined that's what the Lizzard King looked like when they dragged him out of the bathtub in Paris

Not me, Jim Morrison was skinny as shit. Couldn't fight his way through a paperbag...coke diet and all.
MikeC beat me to it, but I'm thinking more of the LA Woman version than the 1st album version. He did a lot of hard living between 1968 and 1971 and looked it.

I'm thinking no.
I'll keep an open mind but I'm dubious. Out of the 3, Salo at least has upside as a puck rusher and a decent shot from the point. I wasnt impressed with any of the 3 on the D end last season.

Yeah, I mean I was talking about the short stretch where he might have been coherent enough to fight, lol.
Key word being "might"

He did give the cops a struggle that infamous night in Miami

If this indeed happens, I’m prepared for a horrible contract. Good player. Will help our team if we added him but the potential price is scary.

It’s speculation but I didn’t know about Lou and his feelings about Kadri in TOR if Rupp is in fact accurate.

I looked at Kadri's stats and boy he is Josh Bailey on paper. He has 87 points this past year playing with the studs and Bailey had by relative comparison a season with Taveras like that where he did not scored 87 points but it was a season where no one in the NHL had 100 points. Seems like a power play guy and one that without a Makar around will be a 48 point disappointment. I pass high on him.

He’s a really good 2way #2 center. Can play in all situations. I definitely don’t expect him to start scoring 80+Pts a year now. Unless he keeps playing with all world players. I don’t think people understand how talented COL is offensively. Playing with those guys will inflate point totals.

Like I said Kadri would help this team but not at the likely contract he would command. Also, one thing we have is 4 centers. Who moves to wing? My vote would be Nelson. I see everyone saying Barzal but I think he’s best suited at center.

Well if you get him, you are moving Barzal to RW, but I don't see Kadri as a fit. Nelson is a 3 zone stud center. Pageau is a middle of the ice guy. Parise/Barzal/Kadri as top line which means Beau could be dealt to make room for Kadri... so Kadri big upgrade over a much younger Beau? Not liking it. I think it is more imperative to get a 6th dman than either trusting old duded of Salo/Aho/Hutton.

How did TOR do after Dumbo traded him? How well did COL do after they acquired him?

Josh Bailey would have those same 87 points if he was on that team last year, it just speaks volumes on how good their players are, prior to that he was tracking less than Bailey. I don't see Kadri cracking 50 points on the Island.

They are not moving Barzal out of C- Kadri can be the LW and aide with left side draws.

Kadri 5/35 should be the max and any contract signing I hope means Bailey is moving the other way. It is the only amount this team can afford to offer.

The goalie market is barren, so holding onto Varly at this point is important. IMO, Beau has another notch to his game and I feel like the team would be selling low on him.

Kadri at 7m allows the team 7.5 m in budget for bridge deals for Dobson and Romanov, a league minimum d man, like Greene and .85 for Bellows (a similar deal as Aho).
