Blake-Aho-Jarvis
Svechnikov-Kotkaniemi-Rantanen
Martinook-Staal-Robinson
Hall-Jost-Roslovic

Ideally Carrier in Staal line, Robinson on 4th line and cheap rugged vet as a 4C. Hopefully Hall is better than what I am thinking, but I like Blake's game and keeping him at Aho's line would balance lines.

You gotta think the Canes can bring in a 2C this offseason via UFA. There's some interesting UFA options at C, most a bit older, but guys that still got some left to give. How would you all rank these options?

Duchene - Age 34 | This season 18G 29A 47P | Face Off 54.7%
Tavares - Age 34 | This season 20G 22A 42P | Face Off 56.9%
Nelson - Age 33 | This season 14G 16A 30P | Face Off 53.9%
Bennett - Age 28 | This season 14G 15A 29P | Face Off 48%
Granlund - Age 32 | This season 14G 29A 43P | Face Off 47.9%

Lock up Rantanen long term and you have to believe we are toward the top of the list for any of those guys looking for one final Cup push to close out their careers.

The first four are good enough to get multi-year contracts like Tanev got. Granlund would be really interesting as a short-term option.

I don’t think you touch the 3rd line, given how well they’ve played together. And not putting Rantanen next to Aho is a travesty. So we’re probably looking more like:

Blake-Aho-Rantanen
Hall-KK-Svech
Martinook-Staal-Jarvis
Robinson-Jost-Roslovic

Man with Blake breaking out this year that top line has crazy potential. If Hall has anything left, that 2nd line could be a hell of a heavy line and that 3rd line with a healthy Jarvis could be a shockingly good

I don't see us getting a big name UFA forward if we re-sign Rantanen. If we miss out, sure, we'll be linked to everyone, even Marner. With all our capspace that we'll still have, we may look to the trade market for some undervalued assets. In any case with Drury and Necas departing and Rantanen incoming, there's too many moving parts to make good predictions about what to do this offseason.

Psshh Laine is as good as a Cane.

What about Mikael Granlund from the Sharks as the #2 center.

Offer Roslovic, Unger Sorum and a lower 2026 or mid 2027 pick, place Carrier on LTIR to meet cap requirements

Lines would look something like:

Jarvis Aho Rantanaen
Svech. Granlund. Blake
Martinook. Staal. Robinson
Hall. KK. Jaaska

Unger Sorum in a Granlund deal is a big no.

Yeah at this point now that we have Rants, our big priority has to be getting him extended and then getting FUS and possibly Arty into the NHL as soon as we can. There's potential here for us to have a seriously dominant team for the rest of this decade if we do the right things over the next 8 months

Granlund is the classic case of a guy that only looks good on bad teams and doesn't play defense. Jeff Skinner syndrome.

Nadeau and Unger Sorum aren't really ready for big league action yet. I would probably play him in the AHL for one more year and go on the same sort of pro-scouting sleuthing that got us ERob to fill out the lineup short-term.
