Im not sure why it matters but we likely weren’t going to offer him much like Montgomery. If defenders aren’t good skaters, they don’t have much of a shot with us

I'm fine with Duclair as a smaller move for some secondary scoring, but I have zero interest in Vatrano.

As I've said before, I'd have more interest if he were actually a rental. Don't want him on the books next year at $4M.

pretty sure the feeling was mutual on that end for us, unless he was going to be offered simply so we had bodies on whatever yet to be announced AHL affiliate we have next season.

Kakko, prospects, and a 1st for Guentzel seems like a mistake waiting to happen, especially because the Rangers won't have cap room to extend him short of an expensive Goodrow cap dump. I'll say if that's the price, let them do it.

I get your point. I do think there’s a difference between a highly touted player pre-change of scenery and one post. Kakko has a little of that mystery box left. Kotkaniemi, not so much.
