Be nice if K’Andre , had a bit of a mean streak in him . I don’t care if he doesn’t become an offensive dynamo . If he could become a solid puck mover , minute eater shutdown guy who hits and plays a complimentary game to our RH Shot shrimps I’d be overjoyed . Jaybo never became the scorer guys envisioned but his impact on the game was felt everywhere he played . Always on the ice , always involved in all 3 zones . If he becomes a jaybo , Hedman , Jones light type we struck gold .

Yeah, no pressure K'Andre ...

Has anyone actually said that leadership doesn't matter? This just seems Bob is yelling at the sky while beating a straw man into the ground..
Eventually, the kids become the leaders. Chytl will be a 4th year pro next season. Tony D should have over 200 NHL games under his belt by the end of this season. Buch has been in the league plenty long. Then you have Strome, Mika, Kreider, Panarin, Trouba, Staal. A decent amount of players on this team will be "vets" going into next season.

I think we're solid on the vet leadership department for quite some time. Time to add more elite young players into the mix.

I’m not moving K’Andre Miller. Kid could be the next Seth Jones, or he can very well turn into a bust, but I trust the front office and the evaluators big time. Their defense next year will only get better. So many high upside guys on the backend that all can be top-4.

They do, but I think every prospect who is not currently with the team should be on the table for "now" players.

Not old, past their prime "now" players, but guys who are in their mid-20's who are still productive and may be in a situation where their current team is stuck in reverse.

Basically, we should be looking to raid the Predators or ducks.

Why cause he's black?

He's not going to be Seth Jones.

He's not going to be Seth Jones.

I mean I get the comparisons....

Long, Mobile, Athletic with the potential to be dominant in all 3 zones.

But Jones was much, much, much further along at this stage in his career. Miller has a ton of work to do and even then, I still think Parayko is a better comp than Jones. Jones is much more natural and comfortable with the puck on his stick.

He compares himself to Seth Jones lmao.

K'Andre Miller Impressing in First Year at Wisconsin

Miller now says he likes to model his game after, among others, Columbus' Seth Jones - "a great American hockey player with offensive and defensive abilities." Granato has never seen Miller play forward, but if having Miller play the back end means a coach can have him out on the ice for more minutes each game, "Yeah, I see why you do it," the coach said. "The skill set and the way he thinks the game, that makes sense to me now that I see it."

This is what I'm saying. At the same age Jones was already in his 2nd full NHL season. Jones is a true #1. I think expecting that out of Miller is setting up for dissapointment.

I compare myself to Gretzky when I'm on the ice.

This is meaningless. Who he compares himself to and who he really is as a player are two separate things. It's nice to aspire to that, and lord knows I'd be dancing up a storm if that's the case. But the odds of that happening are not great.

It's stylistic, not skill level. I was more focusing on the "because he's black" thing, because that claim is ridiculous.

Is it? Why is Seth Jones the go-to comparison? There are probably plenty more accurate comparisons of who he will be as a D-man, like GoAwayStaal said, Parayko.

And that poster was not talking about stylistic. "the NEXT Seth Jones" is what was said. That implies the same skill level. He's not there.

How many years did Seth Jones play at F before converting to D? Lets go easy on the comparisons here folks and cut the kid some slack.
BTW, Wisconsin as a whole is under performing. They have been awful. Many fans and local papers are not happy with Granato. Gotta think a few prospects including Miller might bolt and turn pro.

The statement made was "Kid could be the next Seth Jones, or he can very well turn into a bust." Sounds to me they just picked the name of a good defenseman to make their point with.

Why stop at Jones then? How about this: "Kid could be the next Nick Lidstrom, or he could very well turn into a bust"

That's... fine? It's illustrating the point that the sky is the limit ceiling wise, but it's hard to tell until he makes it how good he'll actually be.

It isn't when you unnecessarily imply that there are racial overtones to a harmless post.

I'm talking about when K'Andre says who he compares himself to doesn't really matter, he will be who he is. I also think heaping the expectations of him being a #1 Dman in the mold of Jones are wildly unrealistic at this point. But I also don't see why the first thought in someones head of an African American hockey player is to immediately compare him to another African American hockey player. Sounds like stereotyping to me.

The comparison originated with K'Andre himself.

Was trying to think of a comparable to K'Andre and the Seth Jones thing is pretty close with regards to attributes but I dont feel he will be near as good as Jones, its early but I got him in the Tyler Myers level of players. Having said all that he is relatively new to defense so who knows. He is really early in the process, he needs to spend the year with Knobloch next year and he shouldnt be rushed. Hajek will get another shot, but I do feel if Smith can play like he did the other night that he will have salvaged our deadline because we were about to take a step back without Shesterkin, Buch and Skjei without a replacement for Skjei's mins.

Karl Henriksson compares himself to Nicklas Bäckström, his favorite player. He's a Caps fan and compares himself to the player he looks up to. Doesn't mean anything.
