With all due respect I don't understand why so many of poster are rushing to include Buchnevich in trade proposals. What's the reasoning? I can see Kreider or Vesey because of how they are pretty much known quantities and you'd expect to get whatever the market value is for them.

Buchnevich is still largely an unknown quantity and it's pretty much a guarantee that the Rangers would receive a discounted value - passing on the full upside to the purchaser. What's this upside? IMHO what we saw from Buch after TDL is actually his floor. I think he finally matured both physically (check out his summer pictures - the skinny kid is gone and he's got this new power forward body on him) and mentally. Next season he will be coming up as a young vet who'd be setting an example - something that would do well to provide consistency to his performance.

I usually try not to make a leap of faith predictions. Last summer I went on a limb with expectations of a breakout season from Zibanejad. I think next season will be a full coming out party for Buch - 60+ points. I think he's ready.

Brooks hasn't been informed for years now in my opinion plus is completely against the rebuild and has his love fest and hate fest for certain players. But again that's just my opinion.

I believe with the position we are in the buyouts are short sighted.. why do we need to buy anyone out? We dont need the cap space now or the roster spot. If the spot is needed they can sit. It allows us flexibility now when we are not competing for a championship and still rebuilding. Its hurts our flexibility and cap in the coming seasons after bc that is when I believe we will be competing and that space we save allows us the ability to do what we need or make trades for players others cant afford like trouba.

The idea is to be great and compete for cups every year like the Bruins for a long time and the way the pens did. Not to be good enough to get in but not be good enough to actually win
Brooks is more informed than you may want to admit. About two months ago, he ran an article saying the Rangers wanted Trouba and Fox as their top two in the right side this year. Look what happened. The trick with reading Larry is a) pay attention to the direct quotes (not the interpretations) and b) take time to separate the wheat from the chaff. Panarin was wheat. Malkin was chaff. Avoid the click bait.

It better not be Matt dUchene. More likely, it's Dallas trying to make a trade to get back their 2020 1st rounder if they sign Zucc. Maybe Rangers are about to get back that Dallas 2019 first???

Yep, exactly. And I read the thing about the difficulty they've had trading those guys at 50% as a direct quote in the context of the article.

Like I said, it's been more than a week and things have evolved on the RD market, but I believe that was true at the time he wrote it.

Yeah the funny thing is that Brooks was adamant they were hard in on Trouba, but his speculation on the cost was wayyyyyyyy off

I think he gets info but not necessarily details

For all we know, that was close to the ask from Winnipeg at the time. But yeah, that ended up being off.

Like anyone in that business, and especially as long as he's been doing it, he's going to have his share of errors and being misinformed. But, by and large, his sources are good.

I don't think the Rangers have any interest in giving Buch away at a discount.

Having said that, a lot of teams are interested in the upside potential and understand that's part of the price.

If you scroll down the page in this link, there’s a pdf of the lowdown on the trouba situation.

Makes everything make sense.
Letting teams talk to trouba would have killed chevys only veil of leverage with the only suitor, gorton

Has Cheveldayoff lost it?
