If the Rangers are trading valuable assets like Ryan Strome for 38 year olds then I think this team needs to have its head examined. Even a win now piece they acquire should have a 5 year shelf life.
You realize strome is a ufa next year the same way Giordano is. If they have another center lined up you make that swap all day without hesitation. The rangers are not committing to strome long term.

maybe she was just saying there is legit interest in Strome and Seattle is one of the teams and not necessarily for Giordano? I'm not sure

i guess I’m more concerned with the Strome for Gio deal creating a short window for us. Which I think is scaring me of and Eichel deal cutting through our prospect pool.

If a Strome for Gio straight up kind of trade happened I think it'd be more about providing leadership and someone to learn from for the kids which is kind of long term thinking there and you're also assuming some retention in a straight up scenario so it's partly about being a cap move rather than just trying to get hte 38 year old guy because you think he'll help you win a cup next year

and if it's a cap move as well it's part of bigger roster moves happening so who knows how it all sorts out

Lundkvist will hurt, there is no doubt about that. He's gonna be a top pair guy with Dahlin in BUF

Chytil will never even be 20% of what even an INJURED Eichel is. I love him, and enjoyed watching him be drafted and develop a bit, but you'll easily forget about Filip if Eichel is a top tier superstar on Broadway

I'd move Kravtsov, Jones, Robertson, maybe even Schneider before Nils.

There's one token poster who shows up every once in a while with metrics to show how underrated and good Chytil actually is. He's been underutilized.

This. And the Rangers likely see Strome as a 1-year investment, so if you trade him for another one, I'm not seeing the issue.

The IDEA of Eichel does make alot of sense, 24 year old center signed for 5 years, he is coverage for Zibanejad asking for something crazy, he can grow with both "cores". Now could it be a disaster? sure, it could also be a homerun.. You can't be afraid to fail as a GM. and if he does miss some of the season due to surgery then they would still have Zibanejad as their top center (for next year).

Panarin Thomas Kravtsov
Lafreniere Zibs Kakko
Kreider Chytil Goodrow
Barron Rooney Gauthier

Lindgren Fox
KAM Trouba
Gio Lundkvist

LETS GO

The arbitrator in the Lindros case didn't explicitly say this, but I kind of picked up on the concept from the context.

Quebec said they would give a team permission to speak with Lindros only when there was Lindros offer the Nordiques liked or a deal they would accept. The Flyers were given permission to speak with Rick Curran who represented Lindros. At the same time, Quebec was still negotiating with the Rangers. Neil Smith and Stan Jaffe(Paramount chairman-the Rangers were owned by Paramount which was owned by Gulf & Western at the time) made a deal with Quebec. The Flyers had a good discussion with Curran. Both teams thought they had a Lindros deal. Quebec wanted the Rangers deal. Larry Bertuzzi(Todd's uncle) said the Flyers had the Lindros deal.

That situation still annoys me.

They may want him over Zibanejad and if they're not signing Zibanejad then he makes all the sense in the world if healthy
Well they both wont co exist unless Zibs takes a hometown discount or Buffalo retains.

We give up a ton of assets just to get back to the same point we are now. A bunch of moving pieces. The chance for failure increases
