And a Strome trade does not mean that there is a trade for a center coming. It could mean a variety of things.

You don't really trade your 2C unless you are going to upgrade or have someone to fill the shoes. Chytil isn't exactly a good player to replace the production Strome has been putting up so it only makes sense that we're going to fit in another big time C close to Zibanejad level. And of course the only guy like that right now is Eichel.

See if we had, say, Dach instead of Kakko then I wouldn't even be thinking about Eichel nor would Drury and trading Strome for an older vet D would be more than okay with me but if our plan is to trade Strome for Gio and hope Chytil finally breaks through............. that's a real bad idea

imo Buch for Thomas was the deal that 'that guy' had a meltdown over. Well, it makes sense at least from a laymans pov.

I think Thomas is the real deal... Had a broken hand and shoulder injury... off year. 22 years old. This has another Brass/Zibs deal written all over it

Even if he doesn't stick at C, he helps in so many ways.

Yeah on second glance at their cap space and signing Goodrow, subtracting Strome, assuming Buch isn't re-signed...things do get tight if there isn't retention in places if they went after Gio and Eichel, though who knows what woudl go the other way in an Eichel trade
