NYR now either need to trade Gauthier, or find a role for him.

I don't think many here think Giordano wouldn't be a great addition, even if it is for one year. I think everyone is just worried as to what the cost will be.

I dunno why but I thought Giordano's cap hit was over 8M. 6.75M is still alot, but certainly would be better than 8M+ yes even on a one year deal.

Best case scenario for me. Blackwell is a nice player but I didn't like having him there tempting the coach to use him in roles that are better suited to more important players. This is good for him too - he's a hard working guy that deserves a real shot somewhere.

I am also of the opinion that Gauthier can be a much more effective bottom 6er than Blackwell. Big and fast is better than small, weak, and fast for a fourth liner.

Happy day for me pending any follow-on deal announcements.
