Strome for Giordano is awful asset management so hopefully Carp is wrong

Blackwell has no place on this team if he’s not being glued to Panarin and Strome
Seattle passed on so many centers, my best guess is that Strome has to be going back. Wonder what the whole deal looks like.

Giordano is cooked. Involving Strome in order to keep Blackwell and acquire him, would be terrible.

Maybe just a counter-rumor to Ottawa being so aloof.

The Rangers will have a difficult time building a contender and keeping the team together with some of the contracts on their books. The upper limit is expected to be $81.5M for the next 4-5 seasons. The NHL players owe the NHL $1 billion.

The Rangers already have over $26M committed to Panarin, Trouba and Kreider. Eichel will add $10M to that number. If it's Eichel, Drury better have a trade lined for Zibanejad because the Rangers can't afford him beyond this season. Mika has a NMC so he controls that process. The Rangers have to pay Fox. Say that number is $8M per for the next 5 seasons starting in 22-23. That is $44M in 5 players. Panarin, Trouba, Kreider, Eichel and Fox. Add $5M or so for Shesterkin. Nearly $50M in 6 players. $49M. Add $3M for Lindgren. $52M. $3.6m for Goodrow. $55.6M in 8 players. That number will be less for 21-22 with Fox still on his entry level deal but it is only for one season.

Even if the Rangers don't trade for Eichel and they extend Zibanejad for $9M per, the Rangers are still in a tight situation. They can manage the cap but something will have to give with the number staying at $81.5M for the next 5 seasons.

The Rangers signed some of the contracts believing the cap would go up with the new NHL TV contract.

Giordano is still really good so getting him would be very nice, but that tweet is so strange. i can’t imagine what that move looks like

See here's the thing, we really have no need for a D like Giordano. Sure he's a vet but a vet that hasn't won anything AND we have Lindgren-Miller deadlocked for our top 2 LHD. Gio doesn't make any sense at the moment tbh
