Exactly what I was thinking. Could easily fill that order with Jones and Chytil and Buch and a first.
you're still missing 1 more roster player and 1 more pick even if they accept Jones and Chytil as top prospects.

Outside of the box thinking here, but, what if Panarin gets all poopy pants when they trade his buddy Strome? What would Panarin return in a trade?

Talk about freeing up the logjam and wing and solving the cap issues. Of course we’d be losing a top 5 player in the league, but you’d have to think that the haul would be massive, no?

He should return two bodies and two 1st, kinda like Eichel, I'd hope. Inside the box, that's not gonna happen, Artemi couldn't give af if Stromer is gone, Artemi is here because of the fame of NYC and Rangers.

I wouldn't mind this, since it would severely augment our chances at picking a massive prospect in 22 or 23. I'm kinda bummed out at the "rebuild" as it was over after one season, when we signed Panarin.

If Seattle wanted to, they could easily be better than the Canucks, Kings, Sharks, and Ducks. With so much leverage and control over how to build their roster and even flipping players then fencing their own assets and picks for certain other players, they can easily be top 3 in the division if they are able to sign Landeskog and a few other high value UFAs.

Seattle will have a better team than Vegas in 2017 on paper. They won't replicate Vegas' success but this expansion draft has better players available for them to pick.

The reason you hear guys like Makar and Tkachuk talking about taking less than 8 years is they see where the cap will eventually start moving. And once it moves, it will move fast. Paying back the owners is depressing the cap $3-4 MM a year right now. Once the debt is paid off and the new TV money is completely cooked in, the cap will quickly go up quite a bit. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Fox, Kakko and others follow the same route.

One things the owners and GMs already know is what the cap might look like in 5 years.
The NBA feathered their big bump. I think it was to make sure the 1st free agent class didn't get the raise while everyone was stuck with depressed wages after.

But if the owners know it's going to jump $20m, they should increase it incrementally a few years early and make the transition last a little longer. So instead of being paid in full in 2026, you start raising the cap in 2023 and end the transition in 2027. The less wealthy owners aren't hit with the bump overnight and the players that weren't even in the league during covid can start seeing raises

Looking on the bright side, if we spend all of our UFA dollars on Goodrow, at least we won't be able to bring in another albatross. Or will we? Find out next time on Drury Ball Z!
Why do we feel compelled to form the Stanley Cup roster today? We have a new coach, 5 or 6 ELCs that will improve the roster just by aging, an expansion loss, and at least two current players that should be traded just because of contract status. Goodrow replaced one. I would make one big trade and make a depth signing. We have too many top 9 players as it is, you have to send out valuable, cheap, talented ELCs to find room.

We need an evaluation period before we do more. 1/3 of the roster grows, 2 or 3 swaps, new coach. Danault, Coleman, a #1 center, a vet LD, a rookie RD... that's too much turnover. We have time.

Yea. If accurate does seem a ways from “the equivalent of 4 first round picks”, which I believe it was a while back?
It's why Vegas got Howden. One first round pick checked off.

Because ownership wants them to even if it means they end up being more of a Cinderella run team rather than a roster that goes into the playoff among the top 4-5 contenders.

Ownership didn't demand a cup this season. And if anyone thinks you can turn 1/3 of the roster over, add a new coach and then hit the ground running, you are in for a surprise. Less is more at some piont.

Drury can spin it publicly all he wants but it seems clear to me Dolan gave him the mandate to make the playoffs this year

Some of these moves that they’re either making or rumored to make aren’t being done by a team where the playoffs “aren’t mandatory”

Agreed. I think that was evident when Dolan shit canned both his bosses.

Of course it's not likely to work, yet that is what they are doing. No GM signs Goodrow to a 6 year deal at age 28 and expects that to be one of the moves that wins them the Cup in 5 years. And it was not any different under the last president who was signing players at age 28-29 to 6-7 year deals.

I don't think its a mandate, like you're fired if we miss the playoffs.

It think it was more like,

: What moves can we make to give us a better chance to make the playoffs.

We can do stuff yet that may hurt our long term chances

: Don't care

Ok

Panarin will transfer his bromance to Kravy.

Think again, not Dolan

Sather. He's been backing everything we're about to witness

There is a difference between "the playoffs are our goal, let's try, we should be damned close" and "if we don't make the playoffs then we are going to trade everyone and rebuild again/trade all our assets for win-nows." I am hoping (would bet) Dolan is way close to the former than the latter.

Phantom equipment allergy for Kreider starting 2024. Sign me up.

I don't like it at all, to sink to that level of Hawks or Tampa shenanigans, but if the league doesn't give af, why should I really.

LTIR Trouba and have him miraculously ready come POs.

This is what it will come to. Nearly all players play through injuries... It shouldn't be hard to find a 'legit' reason.

Either put an end to the loophole or teams, at a mass scale, will start abusing it.
