An AAV over 3M is for sure a bad deal for him. Anything very long term (i.e. the reported 6 years is also bad for a player like him). Reasonable would be something like 3-7.5 or 4-10 at most.

Its going to be, but it honestly shouldn’t be much more than what Fast got from Carolina. I’m hoping the max is 4 years 12 million total.

Ahh. So 5/12.5 would be a bad deal? Even if it is the same AAV as the other two you proposed?

I would not give him 5/12.5 and I would be hesitant to even do the 4/10. That being said it can be mitigiated by the structure because I'm sure they can make it easy to buy out in the last year or two without a big cap hit. The history of UFAs of this type is not good at all. He's not a better player than Jesper Fast who we let go last year for a smaller deal (with reports that the team did not want to give him the third year). He is a bit more versatile since he can play Center and it's obviously different management in charge.

What an odd move for St Louis

Seattle would be fools not to take Tarasenko even if it doesn’t end up working out

Eh. You can certainly argue it would be better to take Dunn given age and contract status. But Tarasenko might be worth it because they will have no cap issues now and if he's back to his old form and the team is decent you'd think they'd have a leg up on keeping him.

Hmm. Well, I guess we will see. I still think the whole 6 year deal is pure fluff since the NYR just acquired his rights. But I could be wrong. I'd guess $3m x 4 years.

There is a lot of tampering going on this year because there is no interview period. I heard a podcast yesterday with Servalli and Friedman. They were discussing that. It on was Seravalli's podcast. The CBA doesn't have the 2-3 day interview period anyone.

Yeah I was mostly being sarcastic.
