Sign Hagelin if you want to go the reclamation project route.Kane or Tarasenko is going to be that last top 9RW spot. One would be to start the season, one in January. I think it will be Kane. I think I prefer Tarasenko. But I will not be upset if it is Kane. Guy is a competitor. With a banged up hip he still put up 57 points. I think he will work his ass off and will look better next year. Playing only half the year would help. It would help him and the Rangers cap navigation.
He won't commit until he knows what's going to happen with ScanlinI’m shocked Tarasenko still hasn’t signed anywhere yet.
Because he isn’t Mitch McButtwipeAgain there is a reason Nosek is still a free agent.
I just need a gif/video/pic of him wearing a Rangers jersey and going to a Sabrett cart and getting and eating a hot dog.I just want to see Phil Kessel don a Rangers jersey, even if it's preseason. C'mon. PTO that fat, glorious bastard.
Heinen is still a guy I’m interested in. So is Comtois
The more I hear about Kane's injury and everything the less I want him back under any circumstancesI'm fine with Vesey playing up and being a guy that deepens the lineup because his line works.
I think the team got worse when we dropped Vesey and essentially replaced him with the guy that wears 88 because that's the xGF% the other team has when he's on the ice.
I tried very hard to be positive about Kane and I never ruined the vibes when he was on the team because yes, he's Patrick Kane, and it was cool. That being said, he was what I thought he was gonna be. It's not his hip. He just sucks.
Hey Folks,
I moved the Galchenyuk posts to the “Around the NHL” thread, Discussion is fine, just don’t want to drag the roster builder thread into off topic chatter, thanks.

More time to focus on offering Kessel a PTO
At the time I advocates for Dylan strome to come in cheap and play the mid 6 c roles w chytil. It would not surprise me at all if copp would have resigned here for less than trocheck got, I just don't think nyr thought copp could keep up the offensive stats (blinded by pts again).I didn't say there weren't a lot of options better than Strome... But honestly I don't remember who was available to sign without giving up assets that was better than Trocheck for the price. Do you? Trocheck checked a lot of boxes and cost us like 250K more than Strome would have. Again, I don't think that contract, even with the flat cap, is the issue here.
Copp got 5.6 mil... 350K MORE than Trocheck. So Trocheck was cheaper, outscored him 64 to 42points, was better on faceoffs 56% to 50%, and more physical 182 hits to 32... I think Trocheck was the better option. Sunk cost doesn't really factor in.
Bonino was an excellent signing based on what this roster needed and lacked strategically.Kreider Zib Kakko
Panarin Trocheck Goodrow
Laf Chytil Wheeler
Motte Bonino Vesey
Boninio has played 15-16 mins a night his whole career, has had double or more takeaways to giveaways 4 straight years, he has posted about 150 minutes of PK time each year for 9 straight years, and has scored 10+ goals for 7 straight years. He is basically a slightly worse Goodrow. Anyone who thinks he isn't locked into a spots is checked out on him.
PK pairs
Motte Goodrow
Bonino Vesey
Trocheck Kakko
Dylan Strome scored about the same clip as Trocheck, a bit more I think, was 49% on face offs and has zero physical presence. He’s not terrible, but Trocheck was more of what we needed. In a vacuum the trocheck signing isn't a big deal but given the status of everything here it solidified the roster for the foreseeable future w only periphery changes available. That's why I'm concerned and I don't like the direction. As I said before other than the month long run what have we really seen from this team over the past several years to indicate it is an actual contender outside of that month. It has been near constant alarmingly frustrating hockey, it is possible lavy comes in here and stabilizes things and everyone benefits, I am hopeful it can happen

You just reminded me of Ron Tugnutt. ThanksThe Pittsburgh series was a mess but also that Chytil disallowed goal call was something I would probably still be mad about if I saw it happen to Bobson Dugnutt of the Nashville Predators during the regular season
None of them. Drury will sign Ronaldo McNutSack to spearhead our 4th line. NeEd mOaR TuFFnEss.Which of the following UFA’s do you think nyr are most likely to sign between july 2025 - july 2026?

i'm just not in camp torcheck is a 2c. i watched him for a long time and he is a great player in spurts but just like a d man that can play up for a bit in spurts he eventually peters out. i have no doubt that his placement on pp1 and the offensive opportunities that gave him grew his offensive confidence here 5v5, but that is exactly what many advocate for other players that were already here. strome kind of screwed the org in a weird way bc they never did have a 2c here, they had a guy that just got a bunch of points being placed in the perfect role from himself. there is a distinction. as such people just seem to think "better than strome" is a 2c, it isnt. our roster structure is so flawed w stregth on the wings and then generally a weak center group. mika is a 1c but at times is a pp specialist when left alone to be in his spot on the left circle, but we have two tweeners after that (which is a way to say we dont have a set 2c) and then we have been horrid at the 4c for quite awhile (goodrow should be 4th wing) although bonino is going to help that a lot. I love this team but i hate the way the roster is constructed with wingers, and to me trocheck was settling for another tweener center and locking the roster in harder than all the nmc/ntc that were given out like candy did. hopefully after this year some flexibility starts with the cap going up and some of the clauses loosening, but then i also get stuck bc at this point kreider isnt the worst deal and he has potential to play his whole career here, and trouba for his warts feels like the leader of this group, and i shutter to think where it would be if he wasnt here anymore, who steps into the role that isnt completely vanilla?Dylan Strome scored about the same clip as Trocheck, a bit more I think, was 49% on face offs and has zero physical presence. Why do you think Copp have signed here for 400k less than he took in DET? Assuming he would sign for less than Trocheck. He wasn’t here for very long Theres no “hometown” discount scenario there.
The team just had two back to back seasons of over 105 points. That’s not shabby. Trocheck gives us center depth we haven’t had in a while. Something a team needs to become a contender. We would have had to spend money on a center regardless. Personally I think Trocheck was the best option at the price point and cost us no further assets. Which doesn’t mean any of us has to like it, but I’m not sure what move to shore up center would’ve actually been better.
I think the matthews contract will tell you where mcd will end up. if matthews short term deal aligns with when mcd will hit ufa than i fully suspect mcd ends up in toronto.Which of the following UFA’s do you think nyr are most likely to sign between july 2025 - july 2026?
