very good contract dont see them giving him up.. I was curious about like a buchnevich for Tuch swap for them (they have more physicality than just him), but I dont think Vegas would do it.
If we had Tuch with that combo of size and speed would we trade him? Even if Vegas was considering trading him it would hurt too much and few Ranger fans would wanna give up what was necessary to get him.
Unfortunately, I am getting the feeling even guys like Coleman and Goodrow are gonna price themselves out of our range.

They def wouldn’t. Not with stone, patches, Reilly, JAM, etc. Tuch adds a bigger more physical element signed for cheap.
What does everyone think of a
Kreider-Barron-Gauthier a try for a 3rd line? All have good size and gauthier and Kreids are faster for guys at that size.
Maybe substitute Gauthier for Kravtsov ??? Thoughts???
I would also like to see Richards be given a shot on 4th line at some point.
It pisses me off when I see Tampa in need of a player and they use the farm and it’s like magic. Like a Cirelli or a Ross Colton. They come up and fit like a friggin glove. You know if they traded us another player besides Howden, he would be playing well somewhere in the lightning line up right now

“Though it goes without saying, it will be said anyway: If Mark Scheifele somehow becomes available out of Winnipeg, he is the player for whom the Rangers empty the cupboard, and the guy in Buffalo becomes Jack Who?”

Final four playoff teams show NHL’s hard cap is a myth

It’s Larry so this is clearly for discussion purposes only but good lord would I pay through the nose with Scheifle

Gauthier should get a real look IMO, He kinda plays the style we're looking for, speed, forechecking, etc

would love that beast here. But he’s one of , if not the last guy the jets deal. Chevy is going to hold him so tight you’ll have to pry him from his cold dead hands. Only option is if he demands out, but I don’t think there are any rumors of him being unhappy with the jets franchise. I may be wrong? But doubt it

love Scheifele, but uncle Larry just throwing shit at the wall here. No way it happens

I think its pretty awful of Larry to even mention Scheifele breaking loose. Its nothing but an attempt for clicks. Barkov has a bigger chance of being moved (due to being a possible upcoming UFA) than Scheifele does

Probably right but we have posters here who keep trying to trade CK even though that is not possible either.

So you were giving Buchnevich a seven year contract two years ago?

Hindsight is 20-20.

A GM got to be able to make these calls. Hindsight is 20-20 on trades and draft picks too. But facts are that teams that drafts well and make good trades and sign good free agents do well in this league. But the Cup winners do something more, they also manage their cap situation really well.

Can we win a Cup with having a few great contract and in other ways maximize our roster under the cap? History speaks against that.

And you will never sign a player to a great contract if you wait until that player has “proven that he is worth it”.

This isn’t hindsight, it’s foresight.

When rebuilding, you don’t do these deals because you are accumulating assets. But once you move into cup contention mode, it’s the only way to be able to keep your star players.

To answer your question directly, no, I wouldn’t have.

But also, if we have any “Buch’s from 2 years ago now,” I damn would will.

Exactly why I raised this point.
