Not re-signing Strome is already a given in this scenario. Maybe we can afford both Chytil and Lehkonen, and still add a 2C if we can trade Nemeth, but it will be tight.
Lehkonen has a 2.3 mil QO and he is arbitration eligible. He's probably looking at at least 3 mil. If we re-sign him, it's going to be for more than 1 year, so he'll be giving up at least 1 UFA year, which will drive up the cost.
chytil is likely gone imo. He doesn’t bring what GG wants out of a 3C.
with LaF/Kakko back there’s no room for him to even shift to a top 6 wing( which confuses me why they haven’t put him there instead of hunt).
Odds of losing both strome and chytil s cap hits in the offseason are very high.
Especially if they determine 26 yr old Lehkonen, a long term piece going fwd.
I hope we get to see Goodrow-Barron-Lehkonen if that happens next year.
Barron just isn’t getting enough time, nor an opportunity to be a bottom 6 center. That’s exactly what they’ve been grooming him to be.
