They'll have spots for them, especially if they trade Kreider this draft, and after next deadline if they also sell of Namestnikov, Fast, Vesey as pending UFAs instead of extending them.

after next deadline? So our prospects will not be able to make the team because we are waiting for next deadline to sell high on Namestnikov and Vesey? Namestnikov, Vesey and Shattenkirk must be traded way before the season begins.

I think he's looking at between $6-6.5 for 6-7 years, with a movement clause.

Ironically enough, it's not the salary that makes me uneasy, so much as the years and the movement clause.

Yeah, I hate long term contracts regardless the player. I would be ok with 4 years @ 6.75 mil, if he want to play for us that should be acceptable.

Another reason I don’t see #20 getting traded at the draft or in the off season.

The Rangers top 6 next year maybe all
Over the place but I find highly unlikely that the club is going to play more then 1 rookie on a single line. Also find it highly unlikely that the club will even play a rookie like (Kravtsov or Kakko) with Chytil.

I think one of the aforementioned will play with ZBad, and likely Buch on the right side.

The 2nd line (Barring any trade) I think will be centered by Strome with Kreider on the Left wall and one of Kakko or Kravtsov on the right side. Spreads out the youth with quality vets that they can learn from.

They could sign a veteran LW this summer....

I suspect that Hayes wants the security, and rightfully so,.

He wants the years, he wants the money, and he wants to know that he's not going to be pushed out and moved someplace he doesn't want to go.

The movement clause was always one of the challenges that people tended to downplay when talking about the Hayes contract. Even if the Rangers and Hayes could agree on dollars and reach a compromise on years, I don't believe the Rangers had an interest in having two centers locked into movement clauses right now, and weren't keen on having additional hurdles to moving Hayes should a young talent emerge.

I love Sam Bennett but he's not really struggling to find a spot and I don't think the Flames or the Flames fans are in any hurry to move him. He's kind of a fan favorite in Calgary which may seem odd for a top 5 pick who turned into a 3rd liner but he plays all out. He gives everything night in and night out.

That's a fair point. Probably not as available as he was late last year or over the summer.

Which prospects, the #2 and Kravtsov?

Yes I expect them to probably make the team too.

Without Kreider they have 10 forwards and Neives. They usually keep 13 forwards.

D is a little tighter, I'd expect they maybe keep both Hajek and Lindgren down if all the others are injury free.

Even moving out Kreider without bringing back an NHL-ready forward, I’m seeing potentially 16 forwards.

Hajek, Lindgren should be full time on the Rangers. Crawley needs to get a good look.

Kakko, Kravtsov, Howden, Andersson, Chytil, and Gettinger should be getting decent icetime with the Rangers.

Why? he plays well for us and has many unique qualities.

Yes, he played well. Yes, he has qualities. He’s also gone baby gone!

Team wasent winning anything with Hayes at 2C. That’s why they got what they could. If they sign him they are going to overpay. This is Hayes big contract. Doesn’t make sense for them to carve out a big chunk for him now.

Beleskey will likely get to play if Namestnikov and Vesey are moved. Brickley also might get re-signed. I am guessing Meskanen is getting released.

I don't think Lettieri, Fogarty, are for the NHL

Gettinger is not waiver eligible so unless he stomps it in camp, I assume he is in the AHL to start.

The D is a tougher one, even if they do not qualify Claesson, they have

Staal, Shattenkirk, Smith, Skjei, ADA, Pionk

Hajek and Lindgren neither are waiver eligible so demotion may be there. If Claesson is gone, I assume one of them stays up and plays where one of the vets is scratched.

If Claesson stays I assume they are both demoted. And as the season goes on the Rangers then work on moving out any, multiple of Staal, Shattenkirk, Smith, Skjei, Pionk, Claesson.

Rangers are not likely to go into the season injury free either, or stay that way if they do.

If the Rangers happen to draft another beyond #2 this draft who also makes the team, then I assume we see them start to move out the pending UFAs. Fast, Vesey, Name.

I'm not sure they have the same plans for the AHL this season as they did last, maybe every single prospect who is even remotely ready does not end up on the NHL team?

Whether we like it or not, waivers or not being waiver eligible plays a part in who makes or does not make the team. While even I assume #2 pick and Kravtsov make the NHL from the get go, maybe one or the other do start in the AHL.

Best case scenario from my POV:

Tyler Myers tells Chevy that he is signing with Dallas no matter what. He wants home to Texas.

Jacob Trouba tells Chevy that he is jumping on the QO unless he gets traded.

Winnipeg is not on FattyShatty's NTC list.

FattyShatty@50% and Pionk for Trouba. :)

This is worse than Stionk and DeangeNO

nice rebuild, making young players play in AHL because they are not waiver eligible instead of trading a few unneeded vets to make space for them.
