Yes but like in the Tampa Lightning way where the league doesn't care or the Devils way where the league voids the contract and takes your picks away?

Instead of looking the other way like they did with Tampa, the NHL would come down on the Rangers with an anvil if they tried to pull something like that. Probably make them trade Buch for plug & a 2nd rounder or something. Oh wait that already happened because Dolan called out George Parros .

so who do you think the rangers 2c should be next year? You’re ok w letting strome walk and not trading for someone like Miller?

I would look to sign either a veteran or a 2c/3c tweener for the 3rd line spot, and go into the season planning to give Chytil 30-40 consistent games at 2c with Bread and Kakko. I think he'll grow into it with an extended run (after a few growing pains). If he doesn't, you swap him with the tweener at midseason or move him to wing, and possibly trade him in the offseason (where we will still be cap crunched). My ideal target for that outside person would be Copp depending on his FA ask. If we could get him for Strome's current contract (or less), he'd be perfect for this group.

Interesting. Maybe Knight involved in a trade for Chychrun?
I still think at some point they will need Knight in the playoffs. would be cautious going in with just Bob especially against an offense like the TB or the leafs.

So on the fence. Want to make use of that salary cap space but on other hand not willing to give up Othmann, our first rounder, Robertson and of course any of our young players already with the big club.

I can't see Othmann going for any rental deals, but I think our 1st going out is a foregone conclusion. Hopefully it's in the high 20s, so it doesn't sting as bad.

I don't think Chytil has done anything that would suggest he should be given another half a season to play C on any of our lines. I don't know why the Rangers would waste anymore of Igor's cheap years by going into next season with Mika being our only decent center.

His NMC doesn't change to a 15 teamer until 2024. Edit: Kreider's NMC doesn't become modified until 2024 either, but Edge has reported that Kreider is most likely the guy traded of the two.

I know Edge has said Kreider is most likely to go but that was in the summer and I’d say circumstances around him have changed. I think it’s more likely he’s named captain than traded now

There is far too much sleeping on Nils on this forum.

Kravtsov's value has taken something of a hit just because teams know about the fallout - way to go, Drury - but he's still more valuable than Lias Andersson was.

But Nils is probably still near in stock to Erik Brannstrom, and he brought back Stone basically one for one.

I can't get a Pettersson for Nils, Kravtsov, a first, and another mid level prospect or roster player? Come on, that's just ignorant of what NHL trades fetch. You can't name a package that was higher than that for a star player once the org decided to part ways.

Nash, Eichel, Stone, etc. It goes on and on. There are no more Lindros deals.

There also remains the chance, per rumors that we were reluctant to even include him for Eichel last offseason, that he remains part of our core plans long term.

Are we sure Petterson is still worth his contract? Or are we witnessing a Patrik Laine drop off there?

Elliotte Friedman was on The NHL Network today. He said Vegas won't do anything this week but they have a decision(s) to make. Alec Martinez will be activated off long term IR soon. Martinez is probably ready to return but Vegas is delaying that decision. He said Brayden McNabb thought he was being traded but Vegas signed him a 3 year extension last week. Elliotte said moving the unrestricted guys is easier than moving money. Reilly Smith. Mattias Janmark. He didn't mention those names but everyone knows which players are unsigned for next season. Elliotte said next week. Vegas has two games this week and two games next week. He said Zach Whitehead will miss time but he makes just $725,00 this season.

R Smith makes too much sense for NYR.
2nd and Gauthier is more than enough
