On the table for rentals...

Georgiev
3rd round picks

On the table for long term acquisitions...

Lundkvist
Kravtsov
Chytil
Othmann????
Robertson
2nd and 1st round picks

I wouldn't trade Cuylle for anything that wasn't a huge overpayment. I think he's gonna make the team quite soon and be very important for the bottom 6.
This is completely fair and should probably be stickied.

Was always gonna be the case that Drury needing to make moves. Daddy Dolan didn’t give him the job to sit on his ass and hug prospects

I'm referring to the dude who non stop posts about the Kreider for Robertson/1st & Buch for Kupari/1st deals that Edge mentioned. I'm suspect on those, not the actual return for Buch.

Drury is an idiot if he turned down that Kings offer, which makes me believe it wasn't real.

Well, the context is that Sather (Dolan) had ordered the team to get more mature and more physical. In that context yet another pick and developing kid can't have been of much interest even if they normally would. 2nd + ready, physical player in Blais looked much better. Look at the other players Drury brought in, Hunt, Reaves, Nemeth, Tinordi, (Blais) - what's the common factor? Ownership absolutely wanted to fast forward things with two, three years. Still do according to the rumor mongers.

Gartner for Anderson was an obvious downgrade because Glenn struggled on the 4th line. They'd have better odds with Gartner. This one was on Neil, not Keenan.

I will say that Gartner would not have been where Anderson was to save a goal in double OT against the Devils. No Cup

Yes he said the Buch deal would be underwhelming, but there's a poster that has latched on to two specific deals that Edge mentioned that seem suspect at best, bullshit at worst. And I don't think Edge is bullshitting, but I think his source was given bad info or simply had it wrong when no legitimate sources anywhere else has even hinted those deals were even discussed. I'd also question how much access he still has when the front office was basically turned over with a new staff.

However, my response was less about Edge & more about not blindly following an anonymous poster on a hockey forum to the point where you can't have a productive conversation. I appreciate the insight that Edge shares with his posts & I wasn't questioning his integrity. I just don't think the info he receives is gospel nor should it be parroted over & over when the outcome will never change.

Right, the real issue is the last sentence. You don’t like the negativity so anyone who disagrees should stop talking about it.

Or it was real in which case Drury is in fact an idiot.

Dolan is an idiot and it’s clear he’s prioritizing incorrectly. Not a jump to conclude Drury has his job because he thinks like Dolan or is willing to do what Dolan wants.

Regardless, I’ll take Edge’s info over your speculation as to why did or didn’t happen.

Again, I'm not questioning the return or the logic of that move, although both can certainly be 2nd guessed. I'm referring to the guy who keeps spamming this board about fairy tale trades that never happened & how they seemingly affect the team moving forward.

I'm with you, I thought about posted the same thing expecting most to disagree. Depending on the cost, I think he could be a pretty good fit actually and has big time playoff experience. I do kind of expect there to be a good amount of bidding on him from a few teams though.
I did take Stat in 01' but oa, my math is not even decent. Could we even afford Kessel if we only have 7mil and change in cap space, but we're currently only paying 20/23 roster players? I'm going by capfriendly.

If that's what you took away from reading that post, you are a complete lost cause. I'm done replying to you. Keep on keeping on fighting your good fight. If you try hard enough maybe the Rangers can retrade Buch after all is said & done.

I think realistically, whether people agree with it or not, if Drury is really open to making a big splash on a rental for this season (like Giroux) I would say Kravtsov, Robertson, and the picks are all on the table.

I read one for one or player for player, the most anyone is willing to trade to the Rangers for Krav is a second rounder.

I
Friedman & Marek touched on NYR today.

Friedman again says NYR are looking to do something big. They are again revisiting teams on VK.

"Jim Dolan made a change last year because he lost patience. They are good this year. They have a goalie covering up a lot of their mistakes, but Drury knows the owner is impatient. They are looking at things."
It would be foolish of them not to look when you have an asset like a promising first rounder playing outside the NHL ...He might not swing a deal but if it drives up the price for other clubs in doing so then at least Drury has somewhat accomplished something . If you can't make your own club better then at least make your competition worse . Works for me . Again...nothing but rhetoric from Marek and Friedman to get a few hits .

yah unfortunately with his injury there is a lot of feeling we got nothing for Buch but I think from what little we saw of Blais he was fast becoming a fan favorite. He’d be tremendous on the third line right now.

we’ve essentially been playing lately without 3 top 9 forwards. People forget him
This... he’ll be back.. he was brought in to be a bigger, younger, more physical, cheaper version of Jesper Fast..
The FO quickly realized Gorton not offering fast that 3rd year on a new contract was an epic f*** up.

blais biggest question was always his health, but he’s got more talent then your run of the mill 3rd/4th liner..
He also filled the agenda of making the team less soft.
I have no doubt Drury specifically targeted him.
I know people are pissed we got him for buch. I myself would have liked Blais+1st instead of a 2nd....
But Buch was seeking at least a 5 year 35 mill investment....

but we’ve seen what guys like Coleman/Goodrow cost....
So if Drury really wanted him, would people be happier if we traded a 1st+ a prospect for him instead of an unsigned Buch???
You can’t have it both ways.. blais is an impact player for us when his in the line up. He was playing really well until that asshole Subban took out his knee from behind....
The only good thing is blais will likely be cheap the next 2 years when we need him to be.
Otherwise there is absolutely nothing good that camp from the slew foot..

I couldn't imagine 2nds not being on the table for rentals.

Could afford him the rest of the season no problem. Next season, almost assuredly not unless he was willing to sign for something ridiculous.

I’ve given examples of recent contracts for centers that compare to Strome. RNH. Danault. Neither is at or really all that close to their cap hit being in the $6’s. $5.125-$5.5m. Get it done. The only concern is the trade protection.

If NYR re-sign Strome as you're suggesting, where is there room for us to add via trades?

Or is the plan then to round out the roster with ELC and other young players? If so you've got to think about whether that roster is as good as it could be.
