I think they trade Lindgren this summer to resign Strome or Copp. It's just a dollars/position thing.

Nope, its easily not resigning strome and trading nemeth who someone will take a chance on. Literally the wings took Staal off our hands for a 2nd. Staal isnt the player Nemeth is now and Nemeth is on a much better and cheaper contract. Letting both of them go opens up the 5m per for Copp.

You dont go and trade Lindgren who is making 3m per year and is valuable to this team.

What did you do to Nemeth?

Charlie Lindgren is the answer as the backup goalie. He's stuck as the 3G on the Blues.

Comes to NY for two years and gets to reunite with his brother.

7D can be some combo of Nils, Robertson, Hajek is he's still around or Tinordi doing the NYC to Hartford shuffle. They can make that work until the TDL and pick up a depth piece.
Traded him to anyone willing. If Staal is moveable, Nemeth is moveable at his modest cap hit. If it costs something, so be it.

If we trade Lindgren it should be for an upgrade imo. Don’t see a reason otherwise, there’s other moves that can be made that have already been mentioned

I'm kind if wondering if that is the reason Drury gave him the dollars, term, and protection clauses. If the deal was we need you, but at some point you'll get traded before the contract is up and Nemeths agent proposed the ntc so his client has some say where he goes when (not if) it happened.

Because the way previous teams fans rant about how bad he was, the dollar/term/protection never made any sense outside of a mercenary status that was agreed upon by all parties.

I know it hasn’t even been 24 hours since his season ended but any news on Trivigno? Seems like everything points to him signing here.

There is no one in the Rangers organization who can take his minutes. Robertson is doing OK at the AHL level. He's not ready.

Jones and Fox won't work together. Similar styles. Gallant won't give Jones those minutes out of the gate.

This is not me being sentimental. Facts.
You are being sentimental but that’s okay. All I’m saying is if the Rangers are making a trade this offseason, they may need Lindgren’s salary to make numbers work. I don’t think it is an automatic that he is back.

How am I being sentimental?

Who in the Rangers organization can play Lindgren's minutes? No one.

Robertson or Jones? Nope.

Unless you can answer those three questions for me it's not possible.

Trading Lindgren is the new trading Chytil which was the new trade KAM because he's not Pronger 11 months into his NHL career.

I have to go to the gym and then get ready for a show after. Nice day to everyone here.

It's really a bummer we are so tight against the cap. In a world without a pandemic we would ice an extremely competitive roster in the upcoming years. Now we will have to make some compromises. Our window will be opening and at the same time cap isn't going up by a lot. Not the optimal situation.

$1.9M left to get a backupgoalie and 7D.

A big move will have to take place in 2023-2024 though but $3.4M or so dead cap comes off

It's doable but it will take a lot of wiggling from here on out

We might be able to keep the squad together for 2 more seasons but if/when young players start taking off/need to get paid... it gets obviously harder

This is what I came up with as well

Think you are a bit low on Kakko and Copp. Don't see us going with 14 Forwards either so gonna have to get rid of Reaves or Blais or let Motte walk.

We'll see. Chytil has had more production than Kakko and plays Center. He landed at 2.3 for 2. Kakko will be around there.

Copp, maybe it's hopium, but he'll be around 5. Maybe longer term and friendship gets it down

I feel it's massive fantasyland to think anyone will take Nemeth. He has term and isn't a 1 year commitment.

He also has a partial NMC iirc.

Every team is going through the same thing in a flat cap world. We should have enough to have most of what we need. Strome, Georgiev, and likely Nemeth are gone which saves close to 10 million. We should have enough to sign Kakko to a bridge deal, Copp, Motte(or Blais), and a backup goalie. Maybe they don't sign Copp and acquire a 2c in a trade. Whatever happens in the offseason we should be able to ice a very competitive team.

Everyone said Danault would get 6+ per season. He came in just over $5m per season but he got term. Give these guys some term. Copp for 6 years and Motte for 4. Motte should come in around the Hathaway deal with Washington. 4 years x $1.5-1.8m

The person that they trade him for. Or maybe the move Miller up. The Rangers are not taking the same roster into next season.

Nemeth buyout isn't terrible. $1MM next season nothing in 23-24 then $1MM the next 2 seasons after that. $1.5MM in savings next season then $2.5MM the following year. After that the cap should be up higher.

Nemeth isn’t a horrible defenseman. There are teams out there who can’t sign any UFA’s and are rebuilding but may want to add depth. I could see a team like Buffalo taking him and then seeing if they can eventually flip him for a pick in a year.

Guess it depends who is on his no trade list. I can see Arizona, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Columbus, Buffalo, Vancouver, Seattle and Montreal being on it.
