Is he another Berard?

what's the scouting on him?

This was Pronman's small blurb on him a few weeks ago

4. Bobby Trivigno, LW, UMass-Hockey East
Trivigno has been a very good college player and was a huge part of UMass winning a national title in 2021. He’s a very skilled and competitive forward who doesn’t shy from playing physical despite a quite diminutive frame. He displays good vision and has a decent wrist shot too. His skating for his size will be the major issue at higher levels. Pronman: Ranking the top free agents from college hockey, junior and Europe

I am glad the trade deadline is over and we got some reinforcements. Now is the time to experiment with lines.

I fully expect Gallant to change every single line every time we have a lead, or a deficit that isn't close. There isn't much practice time and the best way to see what lines work AND what lines don't work, will happen during a game. I just want the lines to make a bit of sense.

I want to see Laf back on the left side.
I want to see Copp centering Strome and Panarin.
I want to see the top line loaded Panarin - zibs - Kreids.
I want to see Strome playing away from Panarin. I want to see Chytil with Brodzinski again.
I want to see Schneider and Jones again.
I want to see things that I don't even know I want to see.

Players are going to need to learn each other again and the best way is by playing together. Lets give Gallant a little breathing room while he figures all this out.

Seems like a foregone conclusion he is coming here.
Rudy sucks.

this quote is interesting considering he had Makr there:

“Without him on this team this year, we’re an extremely different team,” Carvel said. “His single impact on this team is greater than any player that I’ve coached at this level.”

As I step back from the ledge, I wonder if part of thishas to do with the fact laf has played better and they want to see if he can start to drive a line with some lesser players rather than being a complimentary piece to another line. I will reserve judgement until we see how this works AND how turk responses if it doesn't work. Will he be stubborn or will be move laf back to a position that he was fitting in well at.

If laf can help drive a 3rd line than that deepens this team tremendously bc the 3rd line has been an offensive blackhole this year.

I love Laff and I think he will be very good for us , as we see he looks like he has been turning the corner , my only qualm is he gets muscled around way to easy, his age shows as far a playing with "MEN" and the PO are for men , he needs to get much stronger but as far as the IQ , toughness and skill it's definitely there ..
I don't know man. Laf does get bumped off the puck a bit, but he also throws a few nice hits here and there and makes strong plays on the boards as of late.

His game has been improving very steadily. I really wouldn't move him.

This all sounds super drastic other than breaking up strome and bread.

Im not saying to forever change the lines and set it in stone. I want it to see if it works. Once we get that x next to our name in the standings especially and dial it in. Strome with Panarin and Kakko, Zibs with Kreids and Laf may be the best option but we should try some other out as well. :)

I think Laf fills out a little more by next season and will be much more effective in board battles and protecting the puck.

We are seeing KAM start to make that step and be more aggressive using his body. Think he takes another step in that regard by next season also.

what's the scouting on him?

I've only watched highlights of him, but he seems to me to be much more of a Zucc type. Very competitive and very skilled. But perhaps not a future PKer in the NHL or even checking line forward. Berard is much more versatile as far as I can tell.

But would love to get Trivigno, no doubt. What is so special with someone like Zucc -- and many other really good NHL players -- is that he just kept developing. I don't know if he even has stopped today. Saw Minny play the other game, Zucc was fantastic, he is often the one driving that line with Kaprizov and Hartman. But anyway, Zucc at like 23 was a 4th lineer in the AHL for a long time (OK, that was Gernander's work, but still). But he just kept getting better and better and better. Always finding ways to improve. And someone like Brad Marchand is just the same. Brad Marchand had not topped 55 pts in a NHL season when he was 26 y/o. Then way above a PPG from 29 to 34 and counting.

Trivigno has a fantastic skillset and a tremendous attitude. There is a reason he is undrafted. He is quick but he doesn't cover a ton of ice, just like Zucc. To keep developing long into your career, you must stay relevent, get to play good minutes, get to play with the puck. That buys you time to figure the NHL game out eventually if you got that skillset. Trivigno most go to the AHL, but if he can establish himself as a good top 6 guy there fairly fast, I think he will end up playing in MSG eventually.

do you really believe that? After being benched in the 3rd period and relegated to playing with Reaves?

Gallant is pre-emptively demoting him for Kakko. Kakko and Copp will be taking the top6 spots along with the 2 married couples

Trivigno would be a great signing. He has tenacity and that can take you pretty far. You never know, maybe he is the 2c solution.

Him signing here might be why the team may feel comfortable letting Strome walk and are willing to sign Copp. I know one should never bank on a young player like that stepping in to fill such a huge roll, but every once in a while, never happens.
