I would rather JT Miller for this year and next over Kessel 10/10.

In a vacuum, I agree. But when factoring in what Miller will cost, on top of the salary cap issues that he would create for next year (unless they retain, in which case, raise that acquisition cost even more)? Both players are rentals, as Miller will his FA before the team's cap crunch opens up. I would rather use those higher-value expendable resources on something that isn't a rental. Particularly a rental whose two best positions (LW and C) are pretty much set in stone here.

For where the team is in terms of being a real contender, I think we are still a year or two away from shopping for the higher end rentals. Stick to the value menu and rally around the group we've got.

At this point, those two aren’t even positive influences on the ice. Total passengers right now. I’m extremely disappointed in their efforts thus far.
It's much more than just the kids. It's easily to point them out because that's the only time we see them and we internally want them to be studs... He finishes the chances he gets. He's not creating... NO ONE is creating. Especially in Laffy's case.... he needs an extended look in the top6. It cannot be any worse than it's been over the first half of the season ( speakin of 5v5 play )

The entire team is a disaster 5v5. I can't objectively judge the kids when superstar all world talents, like Panarin, have been struggling 5v5.

Would love to see a power forward on right wing to help create some space for panarin and co. As the season goes on, there’s gonna be less penalties called and tighter aggressive defenses to play against. How’s this going to play out?

With the Rangers cap space and need for another top 9 winger, I could see them taking a flier on Debrusk. Boston won’t get much for him, people are correct in saying no team will offer him a QO because the number will be too high.

In saying that, the player and his agent may determine to settle at a lower amount on a contract if they feel it’s in their best interest. If, say, Debrusk comes in and plays well on the Rangers 3rd line to close out the season and they feel he could have a nice bounce back year in this system in a specific role in NY, it’s distinctly possible that he would resign for less than he is making now knowing he may not get more if he just walks to UFA.

Basically there is some opportunity to sign the player at less than his QO if the sides work together. The cost would probably be pretty minimal honestly and he has good speed on the wing.

It'll play out like it has been. Panarin gets smothered, his linemates don't create space for him and he forces low% passes. It's an issue for the entire team.

Whether it's the system or the execution of it, no one skates to create room, passing lanes, support the puck or get to soft spots in scoring areas.

That's why I'd like to see him with Kreider but knew that they wouldn't stay together long term.

It’s really annoying and it’s been beat to death already but having Buchnevich this season would have really given us a lot of the things we are missing in terms of secondary scoring and line balance.

It’s just trading him after extending him would have been a whole ordeal.

If DeBrusk comes cheap enough, might be a better depth piece than a guy like McKegg (who, in his defense, has played better lately). But I would want someone else in the top-6 to support.

Copp? Rakell? Barabanov? All upcoming UFAs out west. Don't know if we have the cap to keep any long-term, and Copp would be a great 3C but perhaps with limited upside, though he has played some LW on the Jets first line the year.

Barabanov is supposed to have a 2-way game and has had a pretty good season (21 pts in 34 games), but not necessarily a guy I'd want to pin the team's depth on.

Rakell is having a bit of a down year by his standards, but maybe he'd turn a switch with us.

I still think Pavelski could be a bit more obtainable and would fit into our top-6 a bit better than some of the other names here.

i’d love Rakell. He is underrated but isn’t he injury prone? Or am I thinking of Silverberg? Silverberg would be a low buy option as a target, or Comtois i wish he was a RW, i like Comtois who is having a down year could use a change of scenery.
