I’m not sure I’m in love with trading Kravtsov + Lundkvist + 1st for another defenseman. That’s a package that probably could have easily gotten PLD when he was leaving Columbus. There will be other centers that become available.

Hell Carolina used their 1st to get Kotkaniemi. Much smarter move based on the assets it cost.

Chychrun is a good upgarde to the D, but is adding more salary to the D for next year a good idea?
Getting the 2C position fixed will be even harder with Chychrun on D.

Imo the priority for next season is:
1. Young cost controlled 2C
2. A top 9 winger that are acutally playing (hopefully this would be Kravtsov or Blais, if Panaran stay on 1RW).
3. A real 3C if Chytil can't handle it. Good defensive with some offense (possible Barron?)
4. A better 3. pair LD. Hopefully Jones.
5. A non-moping back-up goalie. Needs to be cheap.
6. Be sure that the 4. line isnt crap. May need to replace Rooney.

Would rather pay that 3 1. round-tier asset for a Lundell (or similar young C) then Chychrun.

I just don't see us as that close, so I'd get some help to show I'm doing something but im not going big game hunting til next year. My trades would be for Leddy if you wanted some help, and if you could get a young center thats on the outside of an org like Lavoie for cheap for the future and if you still need help, go bargain bin shopping for a rw/c. I dont know how open he'd be to it after his last stint here but I'd really be watching Eric Staal right now. A 3c who can play wing, for free, maybe Drury being a player who played against him might be able to convince him to play out the year. He'd also add to pp2 and faceoffs.

Please don’t waste assets to strengthen a strength. Chychrun is a good offensive/transition player, but is he good at all in his own zone?

Modest upgrade to Nemeth and spend assets on a young, middle 6 C with upside instead please.

either you're Nemeth's biggest fan or you're selling Chychrun low though he has had a meh season with that tire fire team.

Miller is another pp guy half of his points are on the pp... A pp he's unlikely to play on here.

Hertls numbers are overwhelmingly even strength.

Chychrun is the guy. Long term piece. Pair him with fox. Include Lindgren to make the money easier to work.

Kravtsov, Jones, Lindgren and a first for chychrun and kessel.

Kreider Mika Kessel
Panarin strome kakko
Lafreniere chytil Goodrow
Reaves Rooney hunt
Gauthier

Chychrun fox
Miller trouba
Nemeth Schneider
Tinordi

trading Lindgren is a terrible idea

Hopefully Panarin stays with Mika and this allows Drury to package Strome and get a better 2way center for that second line. Hopefully one that can actually skate. I don't know why ppl want to see Laf/Strome/Kakko together. That would be the slowest line in the NHL. Our transition offense is already bad enough I don't want to see these guys take ages to get passed the neutral zone.

If there is a player that is a near certainty to get a bad contract on his next deal it is Lindgren. However, considering he’s going to be an RFA we can always keep him these three years and then make a move in the off-season.

Trading Lindgren is a great idea.

His value will never be higher.
He's super overrated, although a good top 4 d
He's getting paid only a mil and a half less than chychrun
He plays a style of hockey that ages poorly

So you want a defensive liability in Chychrun instead ? Not physical at all

you realize Fox and Lindgren click together right ?

We have to stop with this whole “Panarin needs Strome. Fox needs Lindgren.” type of thoughts. One guy is a norris winner. The other is a hart trophy finalist. They are perfectly capable of producing and playing well without one specific player next to them. Crosby has had a revolving door of wings for years. It never made a difference despite his chemistry with guys like Guerin or Armstrong or Neal or Hornqvist or Simon or Sheary or Guentzel or rust or kunitz

Agreed, the BFF talk around here is so cringe. Lindgren is not going to age well with undersized frame along with his style of play. He's already showing warts.

2 former first round draft picks. If that's true you can remove Jones and Robertson.

Now picking from a pool in just the last few years:

Kakko
Laffy
Kravs
Nils
Miller
Chytil
Schneider
Ott

I could live with dealing Kravs, Nils, Chytil the other 5 not so much. I as some as said would like to see if we can get Hayton along with Chick. Hayton might not move the needle for some, but I think he would be a good replacement for Chytil.

Arz needs help everywhere--and with a ton of draft picks already they need players to step into the lineup right away.

Kravs, Chytil, Nils, Nem and our 1st
for
Chick and Hayton

Expanded on the Kravs, Nils, and our first as most believe.

Kravs is playing in Russia--not even here, Nils is now in the minors (replaced by Schneider--with Jones right behind and Robertson coming soon), Chytil (just not progressing), Nem to pare down the salary, the 1st might be the worst part of this deal.

Chick and Hayton are young cost controlled and whom are we really going to say we wouldn't trade out of that package.

Don't get me wrong--I really like Kravs and Nils but we have other pieces more valuable.
