I know Jones had a rough game last night but I really like watching him play and he's pretty clearly the 2nd best puck mover on defense. I hope he gets back in the lineup soon.

Jones wasn't good last night, but Hajek was much worse. I'd like to see Jones with a defensive defenseman like Nemeth.

Eh, if they get him 'going' he's a bit of a thumper that can help later or something.
Most coaches do some shit like this, it's annoying but really minor.

Jones, while not great defensively, can at least contribute in an offensive way. Hájek can barely tie his skate laces together.
The main focus for a defenseman is the ability to clear the zone. Whether by skating it out, or just clearing the puck.
Jones and Lundkvist at least do that, unlike the 3 pylons. I really don't care if Hájek, Nemeth or Tinordi is 4 inches taller. If you're too slow to catch your opponent, what are you going to do with that size? Also, Jones and Lundkvist are part of this team's future unlike the other 3. All this talk about developing this, developing that and we're still trotting out 3 guys who get walked by Brett Howden.

Hajek is one of the worst defenseman I’ve ever seen and it’s absurd that he’s in the NHL in any role under any circumstances.

This is actually why he shouldn't be traded. He's been hurt a lot. I'm not concerned with the rest of the regular season. I'm concerned on downgrading the backup goalie because if something happens in the playoffs I would much prefer to have Georgiev playing every single game than Kinkaid or Koskinen or whoever. Obviously, someone similar or better like Halak is not an issue. For example, we do hear about how Koskinen is better when he's played less often. Sure, that's perfectly fine for him to play every 5th game in the regular season but that really isn't the crux of the issue with where the Rangers are in the standings. What they need is someone who is actually decent insurance for Shesterkin if they need him to play a bunch of games in a row.

You can criticize the Rangers’ performance last night, but upon seeing Hajek’s statline…a theory it might have been 95% his fault arises from the subconscious.
