Evaluation of the proposed deal aside, most fans don’t know anything and their individual evaluations of deals are meaningless.I dare you to propose that to an Oiler fan. Hell, I double dare ya.

Why do you encourage more 101110111? ; )Assuming that what you say is true, and the Oilers were to make Draisaitl available, do you really think the best offer they would get would be Leon for Geo, Chytil, Schneider, Garand and a 1st? For a Hart trophy winner.
I'm a masochist.Why do you encourage more 101110111? ; )
Why, if the cost makes sense and that player fills a hole that you have in your lineup what would the reason be to not do it? I would take tarasenko or pavelski on this team in an absolute heartbeat. I couldn't care less about his age right now. If you have a player that fills your need and isn't going to cripple you long-term on salary so long as the cost makes sense there's absolutely no reason to ignore those kind of players simply because they're in their 30s.
Do teams always take the best deal available? The Rangers sold one of the best Dmen in team history for Libor Hajek. I’m not saying that’s a deal that will get a player like him, and one of our big guys Laff or Kakko would certainly go the other way, but there are some dummy GMs out there.Assuming that what you say is true, and the Oilers were to make Draisaitl available, do you really think the best offer they would get would be Leon for Geo, Chytil, Schneider, Garand and a 1st? You’re not stealing Draisaitl from Edmonton regardless of how stupid Holland is
it would cost one of Lafreniere or Kakko, Miller, multiple 1sts
Not Georgiev and other random garbage
Well, you're skewing what the McDonagh trade return was. Do I know that was the best deal available? No. But there was no real reason for them to take less the ensure he went to TB (unless you have a theory that the Rangers were playing the long game on Barclay Goodrow).Do teams always take the best deal available? There should have been a Sergachev or a Pointe in that deal at a minimum. We got hosed, big time! This is revisionist history though.
at the time Hajek was one of the best prospects Tampa had and a lot of people thought he would become a very good #3 type defenseman in the league
If the Rangers knew what they know now, I’m sure they ask for someone else, but they didn’t.
My point in bringing up the McD deal is that Rangers zeroed in on a player they really wanted who turned out to be a huge bust. Teams do this all the time. We have no idea what value some players hold to some teams. Whether it’s warranted or not is another story.Well, you're skewing what the McDonagh trade return was. It was poor scouting on the Rangers part, but even at the time nobody was saying “oh my god can you believe the rangers were able to pry Hajek out of Tampa?” The reaction was “THAT was the guy they needed to have?!”This is revisionist history though.

Really? One of the best men in the league who happened to also be our captain and JT Miller. Tampa wins two cups in a row (thoroughly predictable) and Mac is still performing for them while Hajek is barely hanging on by a thread. But lol
Point was better than him then and is seven years younger. That he was even brought up is one of the dumber moments of human history.Really? I mean, I would do itYeah I think Laf, Miller, Kravtsov, Jones, 1st, etc
I think you’re looking at a Lindros level return. I’m not sure a player that good in his prime has been traded since the 04 lockout. I guess you could make the case for Erik Karlsson but he was older and had more question marks about his health
So, uhh, what the heck is going on with Nemeth?
non-roster status?

They also got two first picks and the possibility for a third. This is revisionist history though.
